Earlier today a brand-new clip from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug premiered during a Google+ hangout with Peter Jackson, Evangeline Lilly and Richard Armitage.
It featured a glimpse of a very memorable moment from the book, as Bilbo helps the dwarves escape from the Mirkwood Elves. Tourism New Zealand, 3 foot 7 productions, Warner Bros., and others bring you ‘The Book of New Zealand’ exhibit. This is an invitation only event being hosted out at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA. It combines set locations, images of real world New Zealand, and a little movie magic to bring to life much of what makes New Zealand the perfect location for all things ‘Middle-earth’. From December 13, fans with a 3D printer who use the Windows 8 Ads-inApps, or who have an XBox 360 will be able to download a blueprint of The Key To Erebor. And that means they’ll be able to print their own, at home.
Pretty neat.
According to Microsoft’s Owen Sageness, the company partnered with Warner Bros. to make the whole thing happen — and was also pivotal in developing some of the nifty “deep dive” functionality you’ve undoubtedly already seen on the official website for The Hobbit movies. Comic-Con 2013 brought us, at this point, one of the most polarizing characters we’ve seen in The Hobbit Trilogy. Before she ever uttered a line, Evangeline Lilly’s Tauriel had fans picking sides. Collectors got a good look at the character when the amazing artists at Weta Workshop unveiled the 1:6th statue of Tauriel. This was a special release granted by Warner Brothers so fans could see the character and start getting us pumped for the awesomeness that is to come in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
