You may remember reading about these awesome ‘Dwarvish’-looking 3D glasses, when we posted this story back in August. Now you can buy your very own pair! The folks behind the glasses, Look3D, tell us this:
‘Look3D, along with Warner Bros. and RealD, have created these ‘Middle-earth’ inspired 3D Glasses specifically for the new Hobbit film! Look3D has only created 5,000 units of the limited edition packaging, and these will be available for a limited time on Amazon.com in the US, and through www.look3d.com. The limited edition pack comes with the 3D glasses and branded soft cloth bag.’
There are a few ways you can get your hands on these fabulous glasses. They are available at ‘Made in Middle-earth: Wellington’s Hobbit Artisan Market’ – so those of you lucky enough to be in New Zealand for the Premiere can head over there and snap up a pair. We’re also excited to let you know that the good folks at Look3D have given us pairs to give away at some of our Line Parties – so if you come along to one of TORn’s Line Party events, you may win a pair of these glasses. Weta Workshop has released even more items for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. The new items range from some awesome T-Shirts to a great replica of Thorin Oakenshield’s Dwarven Ring. Thorin’s Map obviously plays a big role in The Hobbit and now you can wear it with this fantastic looking Thorin’s Map T-Shirt.
Also, Weta has put up a really good looking t-shirt with the Red Dragon Logo of the and only Smaug. Barad-Dur: Fortress of Sauron will start shipping in the near future from Weta, and what better way to show your excitement for that item than to also buy the Barad-Dur t-shirt. The final t-shirt from Weta also has a matching pin celebrating The Hobbit’s world premiere on the 28th of this month.
All of these shirts come in at $30 and are well worth the purchase. If you’re in New Zeland or know someone there make sure you get the World Premiere Shirt and World Primiere Pin. As reported a few months back, Kabam is teaming up with WB to produce two Hobbit themed games for mobile devices and your browser. While we all wait for The Hobbit: Armies of the Third Age to premiere in our web browser, we are excited to announce the mobile title, The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-earth, is available now for iOS devices! Back when The Lord of the Rings movies came out, there were promotional tie-ins at libraries in America, encouraging those inspired by the films to try the books! Now, the American Library Association has released a similar campaign for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. The poster shows Bilbo reading his contract, with Galadriel, Gandalf, Thorin and Company in the background, and reads, ‘Take an unexpected journey – read’. Bookmarks and buttons are also available. Let’s hope these films create a whole new legion of Tolkien fans, who eagerly go back to the source and open up a book! Thanks to Ringer Michael S for letting us know about this!

If you are a magazine collector, right now is an amazing time to be a fan of The Hobbit. Not only do we have some amazing new editions from EMPIRE, but you can still grab the remaining copies of The Hobbit tribute magazine! A collaborative effort between Topix Media Lab and your friends here at TheOneRing.net, it covers everything you need to know about the Hobbit movies from a fan perspective. Side-bars and feature articles, contributed by our own volunteer staff, include interviews, a feature on book vs. the movie, articles on games and collectibles, a Middle-earth timeline, and much more! The magazine is also packed with colorful pictures of cast and crew members, locations, collectibles, gorgeous fan art and a few exclusives!
