First, for those who celebrate, hope you had a Merry Christmas! But if you are here at TheOneRing.net and looking, we need to provide some post-holiday content. With “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,” entertaining audiences around the world (now including Australia) we thought it was time to share a fan-made video complete with original song by a group in New Zealand. Some of the faces may be familiar, some of these folks are rumored to be extras in the film as well. Now, don’t take any of this too seriously, the gang is just having fun and actually thinks highly of all involved, as they will tell you if stick around for the post-credits.

Last August, TORn Staffer Justin posted a list of cast members who tweet.  In the spirit of festive greetings, we thought we’d reshare – and update – that list.

Bolg, son of Azog
The original, discarded, design for Bolg, son of Azog.
Undoubtedly the tale of the casting (and re-casting) of Azog and Bolg has been one of the most complicated of The Hobbit. Here, TORn staffer Arandir documents how the parts and actors got shuffled around with poor old Conan Stevens eventually losing out in the game of musical chairs. ashlee NYCTORn staffer ImladrisRose writes: Last year when The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey had its US Premiere at the Ziegfield Theatre in New York City, I was fortunate enough to be on the black carpet representing TORn and covering the premiere. The event was busting at the seams with pure awesomeness and featured most of the film’s principal cast as well as Peter Jackson himself. However, there was no black carpet this year.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug had its world premiere extravaganza in Los Angeles this year and was covered by the Happy Hobbits. With the film’s cast and crew being sent on a whirlwind premiere tour after starting in LA, there was no mention of a New York premiere at all for this time around. I happened to stumble across a Twitter post from Evangeline Lilly on Tuesday afternoon which said “See you all at the #redcarpet in New York tomorrow night at the #timewarnercenter”.

LOS ANGELES — TheOneRing.net covered all kinds of events this week surrounding the World Premiere of “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.” None was more exciting than the film’s red (black) carpet experience where the stars can greet fans and walk the press line to talk about the film.

Many clips end up on news and entertainment websites but we bring you an edited version with our own Happy Hobbits behind the microphones and in front of the stars including Martin Freeman, Evangeline Lilly, Luke Evans, William Kircher, Dean O’Gorman, Aidan Turner, Philippa Boyens, Manu Bennett, Ryan Gage, Sean Astin, Ed Sheeran and the already-famous pinch from Benedict Cumberbatch.

Can’t wait to get a look at the finished film following last night’s premiere? We’ve got two clips from The Desolation of Smaug for you right here! SPOILER warning, of course.

The first one comes today from Entertainment Weekly. The clip was shown – in abridged form – last night, during Evangeline Lilly’s appearance on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Continue reading “New Clips from The Desolation of Smaug featuring Thranduil, Tauriel and Legolas”
