It’s being rumoured here and here that the casting of Bilbo Baggins for The Hobbit may be announced at Comic-Con next week. Daniel Radcliffe, James McAvoy and David Tennant are all rumoured to be in the running for the role – but according to what Peter Jackson told us when we spoke to him recently, the fans shouldn’t be holding their breath for a ‘Con announcement.

“No, we won’t be announcing Bilbo for a little while,” he said when we asked about a Comic-Con announcement. “We’re starting to think about casting, but we’re knee-deep in the script right now. And when we do go to actors, they’re probably going to ask to see a script, so we’re powering ahead with getting the first draft done.” More..

tennantUPDATE: A source inside the production tells us they are not aware of any such announcement to take place at Comic-Con. We feel pretty comfortable saying this rumor isn’t valid.

It is probably typical internet rumor-mongering, but we keep getting whispered to that the lead for the two Hobbit films is cast and is heading to Comic-Con in San Diego. Continue reading “Is ‘the Hobbit’ a Dr.?”

Santiago SeguraMauro writes: I was listening to a Basta de Todo interview with the great Spanish actor/comedian/writer Santiago Segura, who performed in many movies and is a personal friend of both Guillermo del Toro and Alex de la Iglesia, featured in a lot of movies of both filmmakers. He performed starring roles in Spanish released titles of both of them and he did several cameo roles on the Hollywood movies of Alex and Guillermo (Hellboy, Perdita Durango, Blade II, etc). He’s sort of a fetish actor for both, he mentioned he’s traveling next week to New Zealand to “visit” his friend Guillermo, (he jokingly said “I’m going down there to beg him for a role on The Hobbit”). The interviewers and Santiago even hinted that the chance of a role is pretty much secure. Santiago Segura imdb
