Matchstick Man Creates Minas TirithDaniel writes: Patrick Acton, the Matchstick Man of Iowa has posted three new photos at his website of the progress on his matchstick re-creation of Minas Tirith. The photos were posted on March 1st, 2009. Enjoy! Here is the link.

The March 20th edition of the WETA Newsletter mentions TORN and our ‘Cruise to Middle-earth’ vacation we posted about earlier in the year. Ringers on the cruise stopped by the WETA Cave for a very special treat. From the newsletter: “Our friends from T.O.R.N visit the Weta Cave – On a Cruise To Middle-Earth, a large group of Tolkien fans from TheOneRing.Net came to visit us. It was a real pleasure to have you here and to show you around. It takes a special kind of fan to travel all the way to little New Zealand. In the photo you also see Richard Taylor, Tania Rodger and Daniel Falconer who hosted the group on their visit.” >wetanz.com

Galenswerd Swordsong writes: I Just wanted to let you guys know that members of the LOTRO community on the Landroval server have created an awesome video set to the music of Celtic band Fathom. Turbine featured the video on their community spotlight:

“The first time we saw “The Battle of Ballylochlan,” we knew we’d have to spotlight this Celtic masterpiece on a very particular day. Like minstrels of ancient times, Welby and the Lonely Mountain Band wield the arts masterfully, and envelop us in their merriment. Featuring an enthusiastic drum beat, insane Irish piping, and stunning visuals, the movie lets us join them in a St Patrick’s Day themed celebration, on the special day itself. Congratulations again to Welby, and happy St Patrick’s day from the Turbine team!”

The band caught wind of it and now is featuring it on their homepage and plugging LOTRO in their newsletter! Celtic music and LOTR what better combo!? Continue reading “Fan Made ‘The Battle of Ballylochlan’ Video”

Joe writes: I wonder if you guys have seen my blog. I’m building a hobbit-hole in my backyard as a playhouse for my kids and a hill for them to play on. I would be honored if you would take a look. It is a work in progress which I hope to have finished in time for the release of the new movie of The Hobbit. http://myhobbit-hole.blogspot.com
