Well, the long wait is over. Peter brought 12 and a half minutes of Hobbit goodness to Comic-Con’s Hall H today, and blew everyone’s minds.
To say the event zoomed past at an overwhelming pace would be an understatement too big to describe. We’re digesting everything we’ve seen and will continue to update as we work through the impressions and information that roared past. Read on for a quick summary and a massive pile of spoilers! Continue reading “Quick round-up: The Hobbit presentation in Hall H!”
Earlier today, Entertainment Weekly chatted with Peter Jackson, Philippa Boyens, Richard Armitage, Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen and Andy Serkis in their VIP suite. It’s a really cool interview and there’s some great stuff in there, particularly from Boyens and Freeman. Maybe a few spoilers! Go check it out while you’re waiting for our Hobbitcon panel wrap-up! (We’re working on it right now!)
TheOneRing.net scored a few exclusive moments with Peter Jackson in the Comic-Con press line to chat. He was asked about his additional filming plans for The Hobbit.
Jackson says that he greatly desires to go back and film more in Middle-earth. This extra footage may or may not be destined for extended editions — extended editions are something that we definitely expect to see. However, the exciting possibility is that a third Hobbit film is also on Jackson’s mind — and he admitted it!
He wouldn’t outright commit to anything. He didn’t say: “Yes, I’m doing a third film”. On the other hand, he didn’t close the door completely.
His words: “There’s much more material from the Appendices of Lord of the Rings that we didn’t fit in.”
Remember though, we reported the other day that Warner Bros has no plans for a third film. Studio sources told Variety that “the plan was always for two.” What will happen? Well, it may all hinge on what sort of success An Unexpected Journey has this December.
Intro: One of our Ringer Spies, frenz, didn’t know quite what to expect when she received her ticket to Comic-Con 2012. Orcs and goblins and bears, oh my! Not to mention a line of over 7,000 people to get into Hall H (capacity of 6,500) for the WB panel, scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Pacific time today. Here are some of her impressions:
So what happens when a new Tolkien fan finds herself at Comic-Con? A sensory overload? Certainly. Everything is big and loud and insane, and it’s caused an unstoppable grin, which is quite something since I’m not normally much for grinning incessantly. But at Comic-Con, you will be miserable if you can’t grin:
Apparently there are thousands already queueing for the Hall H Hobbit presentation that happens later today. Some have been queueing since Wednesday. Madness.
Peter Jackson has done his final rundown as well. In a message he posted on his faceborg account, he wrote:
Where were you all?? I was in Hall H last night, running down our Hobbit reel, and nobody was there. 6500 empty seats!
You should have come along and bought a few beers! Mind you, it was 11.30pm, so I guess everyone was busy. See you later today.
