TORnadoes ask about it often in person at events, via email, on Twitter and Facebook: “Will there be line party events and organizations for The Hobbit movies?” The answer is a resounding YES! There will be some changes around TORn, any minute now, or at least in just a few hours after this post. Part of the purpose is to make things as great as possible, to get the site ready for The Hobbit onslaught but also to accommodate local gatherings around the world. Movie tickets should go on sale around November 7 and we hope to help events organize in a grass-roots fashion around the globe. Stay tuned and spread the word! Consider theater destinations, consider organizations in your community like book stores, movie clubs, people who love lines and consider lending a hand to a world wide effort to see “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” with like-minded friends. Thanks for your energy and enthusiasm and get ready!

Ringer Karen wanted to share the news that lucky Aussies who live in or near Perth can now purchase tickets to screenings of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring with live music and chorus being presented by the Western Australian Symphony Orchestar (WASO) on June 21 and 22, 2013. From the WASO website: “Peter Jackson’s epic vision of Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is supported by some of the greatest film music of all time. Howard Shore’s Academy Award®-winning score captures the film’s sweeping emotion, thrilling vistas and grand journeys through the power of a full symphony orchestra and massed voices.”

Ringer-spy Rosie-with-the-ribbons sent us the following report from this years RingCon.
Last weekend there was another RingCon in Bonn, Germany, the 11th RingCon to be precise.
In the last few years more and more fandoms have been invited to attend. And this year we were very happy to greet a big number of Game of Thrones-stars and their beautifully costumed fans to the event. But I am going to focus on all the LOTR-stuff that happened.
Come one, come all, to share in the fellowship of Tolkien fans at the annual HALL OF FIRE outdoor party hosted by the Los Angeles Tolkien Forever group! This is the grand event we mentioned at the recent Baggins’ Birthday Bash that is definitely a *must-see* event for Ringers all across Southern California!
Later today various staffers from TORn will be taking planes, trains and automobiles to get to the Big Apple and start setting up for New York ComicCon! From 3pm Thursday afternoon we’ll be manning our booth at the Javits Convention Center, and we hope that you will come on by and say hello!
You can visit TheOneRing.net at booth number 2947, where you can buy fabulous shirts, buttons and other goodies, plus play trivia, enter a draw for some incredible prizes or just chat with fellow fans! You can also hear us speak and speculate about the forthcoming Hobbit movies, at our panel at 9pm on Friday night.
And don’t forget, you can party with us tomorrow (Thursday) at 8pm at the Speakeasy Room! This is the bargain of the year – you would not believe the amount of amazing stuff we have to give away to attendees! For just $25, you get a goody bag which includes a T-shirt, TORn button and Sideshow gift card; two entries into the raffle with amazing Hobbit prizes from Weta, Noble Collection, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and Sideshow Collectibles; your first drink; food; and, of course, great company with fellow fans! Where else can you get a private party in Manhattan, plus all those freebies, for such a price? Last few tickets available here, until 3pm on Thursday, or on the door! Do come and join us!
Hope to see you in the Big Apple! Many thanks to our friends at Weta, Sideshow Collectibles, The Noble Collection, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and The Tolkien Shop for their support!
