EXCLUSIVE – Deadline hinted first but TheOneRing.net can confirm that Elijah Wood will step in front of Peter Jackson’s cameras and return to Middle-earth for a part in ‘The Hobbit,’ — and we even know how. Despite how some fans will respond at first, the reasons are organic and natural and might not upset some of the most ardent purists.

It almost seems that the San Diego Comic-Con becomes the center of the entertainment Universe for a few days. Maybe it does. We were there presenting a panel, meeting fellow fans, conducting trivia, grooming sources, hanging out and watching the celebration of popular arts. Despite pen stabbings, incredible (or impossible) lines and vexing shuttle buses, it remains an incredible experience.
TORn was among the very first panels to kick the week off and it helped produce a torrent of film industry folks and fans who wanted to touch base on ‘The Hobbit’ films.
So here is a rundown from the TORn perspective of what went on. (more…)
Linuxelf continues to load up the YouTube library of yesteryear. Heading up today’s entries is fun New Zealand television coverage from our own “Return of the One Party”. They (channel 3) call it the “Three Ring Party” and later refer to it as New Line’s party, never quite catching on that it was a fan organized gathering. But they did talk to site friend and expert costumer Judy (look for the beard) and reported from our stage while Emerald Rose is playing.
After the video below are links to fun interviews with the likes of Peter Jackson, Orlando Bloom & Liv Tyler, Viggo Mortensen, Sean Astin, Andy Serkis, Ian McKellen, Billy Boyd, Elijah Wood and John Rhys-Davies as well as footage of fans touring Edoras.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy stars Liv Tyler and Viggo Mortensen are Hollywood’s ‘highest earning’ screen couple, says Forbes. “The coupling of Viggo Mortensen and Liv Tyler convinced a lot of girlfriends to sit through more than nine hours of orcs and wizards and hobbits. With $2.9 billion in worldwide earnings, the Lord of the Rings trilogy puts Mortensen and Tyler at the top of our list of Hollywood’s highest earning on-screen couples. More…
A time honored tradition on TORN, poll swamping, seems the opportune thing to do on a lazy Sunday evening. This week Hello! Magazine Online is asking who the most attractive is out of their list of attractive ladies. Their choices include Cat Deeley, Jessica Alba, Nelly Furtado, Uma Thurman, Demi Moore, and our very own Liv Tyler. I think you know what to do! “Who do you think was the most attractive woman on our site last week? Vote now for your choice! The week’s winner will be included in a monthly poll and the monthly winners will be entered in a Grand Finale at the end of the year.” Poll Swamping: The Tradition Continues

Liv Tyler turns 31 today and Marton Csokas’ birthday was yesterday; he turned 42. Liv, who has been acting in films since the early 90s, graced the screen as Arwen in all three Lord of the Rings movies. Her latest role was that of Betty Ross in The Incredible Hulk which opened in U.S. theaters on June 13. Marton, who played the lord of Lothlorien, Celeborn, in The Fellowship of the Ring, has enjoyed a long and successful film career in New Zealand and internationally and was last seen in Romulus my Father, released in Australia in 2007. Many happy returns to both of these fine actors!
Frosty from Collider.com wrote us with a little Liv Tyler tidbit. She is of course basking in the success of “The Strangers” and opening “The Incredible Hulk” today. In the video interview by Frosty, Tyler reveals that she has not yet been talked to about showing up in the Guillermo del Toro-helmed Hobbit films. What could this mean? Well, a lot of things. Liv Tyler is making the chat show rounds promoting a little movie called ‘The Incredible Hulk’ which is due out tomorrow (June 13th). Tonight she will be on ‘The Jimmy Kimmel Show’ on ABC, and then she follows that up tomorrow with a visit to ‘Live! with Regis and Kelly’.
IGN caught up with actress Liv Tyler yesterday in New York City to discuss her new horror film The Strangers, but while we had her pointy Elven ear we just had to ask her about whether or not she’ll be returning to the Lord of the Rings universe as Arwen for the upcoming pair of recently announced Hobbit films. “Somebody just said to me, ‘Has your agent called Peter Jackson yet?'” says the actress with a laugh. “And I was like, ‘Whoa. What are you talking about?’ Liv Tyler Talks The Hobbit
