HobbitBotFABardb2The last two days have seen two new items from our friends at Weta that are tied to this, the final film in the fantastic Hobbit Trilogy.

The first item landed yesterday and was something we saw at Comic-Con 2014 to do with a certain Dragon Slayer. That’s right, fans can now get one of Weta’s amazing statues capturing Bard the Bowman. This statue of Bard is so well done, with all the usual great details, as well as a dead on likeness to Luke Evans. Bard is currently up for pre-order for $299 with an expected ship date during quarter one of next year. There is also a small deposit that will be required at the time of order for those who will be one of only 1000 people to own this statue.

One of my favorite moments from the last film was The White Council taking on the Necromancer in Dol Guldur. Now if you’ve always wanted to own Saruman’s Staff, Weta has now released this amazing prop replica for you to add to your collection. Limited to just 1500 pieces worldwide you can snag this replica for $249 with a deposit at the time of purchase, and you should have this sometime during quarter one of next year.

Bard_Bain.jpgWarner Brothers UK has posted a short new featurette on YouTube showcasing Laketown and Bard. Curiously, while the video appears to be meant as an advertisement for the new Blu-ray/DVD release of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, the video itself is not present in any of the bonus features on the set.

The same is the case for the previously posted video “Beorn the Shapeshifter“. The Blu-ray/DVD releases do, however, feature an all new 40 minute documentary titled “Peter Jackson Invites You to the Set”. Continue reading “‘Lake-town – Entering the World of Men’ Featurette”

A Dominion Post photographer had a chance to snap some (mostly!) unobstructed pictures of the Laketown set the other day when the Stone Street Studios studio gates were left open as local firefighters responded to what seems to have been a false alarm at the set. Naturally, these photos may be spoilers for some!

Ringer Spy Lissuin sends us these exciting new spy pictures from Stone Street in Wellington of a massive green screen set under construction.

We believe that the tall, narrow buildings currently under construction are most likely to be part of Laketown — the human town on the lake of Esgaroth a few days journey from the Lonely Mountain.

Needless to say, there are potential SPOILERS beyond the cut! Continue reading “Super new Hobbit spy pictures from Stone Street set!”
