Ringers – today is a good day! We are getting a preview of yet another The Lord of the Rings statue making its way into the que of items
from the new maquette line. The newest piece that will be entering our collections is the Snow Troll. This piece will come from the upcoming The Lord of the Rings War in the North video game. As with the other maquettes announced this Troll gives us a look at different view of Trolls from Middle-Earth. As you will see in the video from Sideshow Collectibles this piece is huge and will draw some major attention in your collection. Also in the video we get a look at the announced Arwen and Boromir maquettes and an explanation of what the exclusives will be for each item. Elessar sends along a curious tweet from artists/illusionist Derren Brown, not 2 hours ago he tweeted the following:
@DerrenBrown Off to watch some Ian Holm and Christopher Lee being filmed for The Hobbit. HOW EXCITING!
The tweet gives us a little more info on the apparent ‘UK shoot’ taking place sometime soon (maybe even today). Along with news that Elijah Wood is heading to the UK soon, and of course word that Christopher Lee wants to be involved in The Hobbit, save for traveling to New Zealand. No official word can be gleamed from the production (trust me, I tried), let us hope we learn more soon!

The awesome folks at Weta have a brand new The Lord of the Rings collectible for us today! Gandalf the Grey is going to be thenext item coming from Weta in a line of statues of characters from The Lord of the Rings. As many of you know the first statue done in this line by Weta was the Gollum statue which had two versions. One with the Weta Cave logo can only be bought at the Weta Cave in New Zealand and Gandalf will be the same here. However, there is a second version for those of us not able to make the trip to the Weta Cave and purchase the version with the logo on it.
Gandalf the Grey will come with a price tag of $69 US or $99 NZ and will be like Gollum an open edition size. That does not mean he will be around forever and with a piece that has such an amazing likeness to Sir Ian McKellen I implore my fellow Ringers to get this piece before its gone. Also, Gandalf the Grey will be making an appearance at Comic-Con starting next week along with yet another surprise from Middle-earth! [Order Today]
People taking pictures of Hobbits from a hilltop park above Peter Jackson’s studios in Miramar risk having the images deleted and being charged with trespassing. This is the potential outcome for anyone using cameras on Wexford Hill, a Wellington Airport-owned property that overlooks the Stone St studios, where The Hobbit is being made.
The land, which has panoramic views of the eastern suburbs, looks like a park. It is mowed, unfenced and has seats on the summit. Until recently, an old Ministry of Transport sign (still visible) warned people not to drive vehicles there.
Six large notices have now been erected telling members of the public that although they are welcome on to the land for “usual recreation purposes”, they are not allowed to take photos of any property or people at the Stone St studios below. More..
From latimes.com (thanks to nokA) “Consider the accelerated pace of Vuguru’s “The Millionaire Tour,” a thriller with elements of Tom Cruise’s 2004 cab driver hostage drama “Collateral” and Kevin Spacey’s suspenseful 1995 crime mystery “The Usual Suspects.” Jones said she read the script in February. The series started shooting in May. In the feature film world, such development could take 18 months or longer.
Dominic Monaghan, who has appeared in the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy and on the ABC-TV series “Lost,” said he was attracted to “The Millionaire Tour” because of the quality of the script as well as the opportunity to be in the vanguard of the changing media landscape. “Right now, there is a slight novelty value … to making a movie that is specifically made for an online release,” Monaghan said. “But I think in the next five to 10 years, everyone will be doing it and this film will be recognized as one of the forerunners. And that’s important to me.”
