From [NZHEARLD] : Master fimmaker James Cameron will return to New Zealand to snoop around the set of The Hobbit as director Peter Jackson follows in his footsteps to create a blockbuster 3D film.
Jackson let slip to Australian film magazine Empire that Cameron would visit the set in September.

Sylvester McCoy, Radagast the Brown in the two upcoming films based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit, has been added as a guest to the annual celebration of popular culture known as DragonCon. Ralph Bakshi is also a guest and of course TheOneRing.net is also attending as it has for the last decade and we will make every effort to catch a chat with McCoy.
He is best known as the seventh Doctor Who but has worked extensively on the stage and in television. It is not yet known if he will appear as part of the Tolkien Track of programming (but he is more than welcome to take the stage during either of the two TORn panels on The Hobbit) but he will doubtless be asked a few Middle-earth questions even if he is involved with Doctor Who content.
Expect a lot more DragonCon content from TORn through the conclusion of the convention including the TORn road trip to DragonCon. Continue reading “Sylvester McCoy added as DragonCon guest”
In relation to the post below “Evangeline Lilly, precious son in Wellington for ‘The Hobbit’, the [Stuff] website also reported this juicy and exciting tidbit
“Jackson’s spokesman would not reveal which celebrities were currently in Wellington, but said filming had resumed last week and would continue until December. “
With Benedict Cumberbatch unofficially joining the cast of The Hobbit, early reports suggests he will be the voice for Smaug.
Early reports suggest Cumberbatch will voice the dragon character Smaug but the actor refused to specify his role, insisting, “I can’t say at the moment, thank you very much.”
A red-faced Freeman later told reporters, “I knew I was a sort of a big mouth but I didn’t realize to what extent I was a big mouth, and I’ve just ruined everything. I might not actually go back to a job – they might have just sacked (fired) me.”
