Sideshow Collectibles does not post coupons very often, and it is even less likely that they give coupons to fan sites like TORn – but we’ve managed to snag one for our collectors! From now until Sept 30th 2008, you can save $10 off the Frodo Baggins 12-inch Figure Exclusive, as well as $10 off the Samwise Gamgee 12-inch Figure Exclusive. The coupon code to use at checkout is ‘TORN’ (without the quotes) and you can use it on both figures, but not in the same order. So if you are looking to purchase both figures, place two separate orders and use the code ‘TORN’ for each one. This will save you $10 off each figure for a total of $20 in savings! If you are not familiar with this line of The Lord of the Rings figures, it can be argued that they are some of the most film accurate and detailed collectibles to ever be produced. Each figure is fully poseable and comes with a mountain of accessories. For a great comprehensive review of these figures, check out the one posted at MWCToys.com. Viggo Mortensen, along with 16 other celebrities (male and female), made an appearance in MSN Movies’ pictoral essay: “Hot and Dirty – Stars we Like Better Grimy.” Side-by-side photos compare clean-cut versions of actors including Uma Thurman, Gerard Butler and Clint Eastwood. A clean-cut Viggo appears next to the Viggo who used to sleep in his Aragorn costume to gain an understanding of the character he was portraying. Which do you prefer? From seattlepi.com: Don’t be surprised if you’re at Mount St. Helens this weekend and you run into Viggo Mortensen. The Academy Award-nominated actor will be there filming scenes for the big-screen adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s novel “The Road.” It’s a post-apocalyptic tale of a journey taken by a father (Mortensen) and his young son (Kodi Smit-McPhee) across a barren landscape blasted by an unspecified cataclysm that destroyed civilization and most life on Earth. Mortensen and Smit-McPhee will be shooting scenes with director John Hillcoat Friday through Monday. The film also stars Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce, Michael K. Williams and Robert Duvall.
From www.stuff.co.nz: New Zealand actors Jay Laga’aia and Craig Parker are playing key roles in a new American swords and scorcery television series being filmed around Auckland. Filming of Wizard’s First Rule, the first book in Terry Goodkind’s popular The Sword of Truth books began this week. But the 22-episode series has been renamed Legend of the Seeker – apparently to avoid religious concerns among American audiences about scorcery. Executive producers Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert told a comics and fantasy convention of the name change, and announced the New Zealand actors, Entertainment Weekly reported.
