IGN caught up with actress Liv Tyler yesterday in New York City to discuss her new horror film The Strangers, but while we had her pointy Elven ear we just had to ask her about whether or not she’ll be returning to the Lord of the Rings universe as Arwen for the upcoming pair of recently announced Hobbit films. “Somebody just said to me, ‘Has your agent called Peter Jackson yet?'” says the actress with a laugh. “And I was like, ‘Whoa. Tolkien realm, “Beowulf”, one of the oldest written stories of Europe features not only the monstrous Grendel but his serpentine Mother. Empire Magazine caught up with Sir Ian McKellen at the UK Premiere of Speed Racer at which he had this to say:
“Yes, it’s true,” he said. “I spoke to Guillermo in the very room that Peter Jackson offered me the part and he confirmed that I would be reprising the role. Obviously, it’s not a part that you turn down, I loved playing Gandalf.”

The Grey Pilgrim sent MTV’s interview with Guillermo del Toro our way where the communicative director had yet more to say about some “Hobbit” movies he is working on. The MTV writer Shawn Adler (with reporting by Josh Horowitz) is one of the few mainstream writers that knows that Middle-earth has a lowercase “earth” and like our own Xoanon asks some questions with real background knowledge.
