Warner Bros. has released a new site specializing in the tastes of Middle-earth. Featuring such categories as sweets & treats, main courses and breakfast foods, it also provides a way for users to submit recipes. Steven Hunter’s Bombur is featured as the face of Middle-earth culinary delights and his cookbook is a linked tab as well. That may even be a clue into the character but more than that, it is a sign that WB wants to have a little fun with its December tent-pole movie.

Ringer Spy Stratos has sent us some exciting news concerning the upcoming trailer for The Hobbit.
It seems the trailer will feature a piece from Immediate Music’s album QUANTUM, described by them as…
“… our edgiest and most modern Live Orchestra and Choir release yet… a combination of Epic Action and Drama making a grand debut as our most unique hybrid orchestral album for film trailers and advertising… loaded with layers of ground breaking sound design accompanied by dark, edgy guitar melodies combined with our signature sound of lush cyclical strings, huge swelling brass, and massive booming drums.”

We can’t wait for the debut of the second Hobbit trailer! We can confirm that one of our Epic Dramatic Adventure pieces from Quantum will be featured in the upcoming trailer for Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. This classic will follow Bilbo Baggins as he journeys to the Lonely Mountain with a vigorous group of Dwarves. We are thrilled to be a part of Warner’s marketing campaign for this series.
So while it seems highly unlikely that the trailer will feature a Howard Shore composition, it looks like we can expect some breathtaking music nonetheless.

From Northhumberland Gazette: Reader Phil Murray spotted something
that looked very familiar when he pulled out the A3 The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey poster that came with the Total Film magazine, the fields of the shire in the background of the poster reminded him of Edlingham Castle with the old Alnwick to Wooler railway viaduct and the Simonside Hills which can be seen in the atmospheric artwork as the ruined keep.
“The level of detail in such a large version of the picture piqued my curiosity and I dived onto my computer to hunt for a picture I’d taken of the castle a couple of summers ago to see if my hunch was correct. I was stunned when it matched up perfectly – even the field boundaries immediately around the castle were the same in the poster as in real life”

In just about 2 months from now, travelers from around the world will descend upon Wellington to celebrate the release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Some will be cast and crew who worked on the film, others will be studio executives involved in the creation of the film, and still others will be an International Press Corp writing stories about the film. And mingling amongst all these creative types will be fans from around New Zealand and the rest of the world, including TheOneRing.net, and you can be amongst all this excitement by joining our tour. Just today, it was announced that WETA is designing a welcome surprise for display at the Wellington Airport. It is said to be interactive and breathtaking, and this reporter can’t wait to see it for myself when I arrive there. You can read more about it in WETA’s newsletter. Spanish website Milenio has an interview up with Cate Blanchett discussing, among other things, her return to the role of Galadriel in The Hobbit.

Milenio: It’s been 12 years since you played Galadriel. How did it feel going back to that character and that universe?
Cate Blanchett: I’m more mature as an actress; that’s what made me want to play her again. Peter called me and thought I might not accept the role. I told him “Are you kidding me? Of course I will!”
Galadriel is a special character to me, mythic and fascinating. It was as enjoyable to shoot as Lord of the Rings. When I wore the elf ears again, I had this wonderful feeling of dejá vú. I couldn’t stop laughing.
I was very young when I played Galadriel. I hope to have evolved, to be a better actress, person and mother. Professionally I think I’m much more flexible now, and easier to work with. I know Peter thinks so! (laughs) Come Christmas the audience will be able to decide for themselves.

Ringer Maya sends us this report from today’s signing at the Weta Cave.
The queues were especially long this afternoon at Weta Cave. The cave is usually rather busy and packed with tourists, movie fans, Tolkien fans and other enthusiastic visitors, but today was exception even in busy times’ standards. Like many others, I too arrived at the cave today, my own wee elfling in tow, willing to brave the long queue especially to meet illustrator Alan Lee and to have him sign our copy of The Hobbit 2013 Official Calendar.
