Kristin Thompson is going to be available to sign her book “The Frodo Franchise” during Comic-Con. “I’ve come up with three one-hour time-slots when I’ll be at the booth to sign your copies of The Frodo Franchise. (If you’ve got others of my books you want signed, feel free to bring ‘em along.) I imagine I’ll have time to chat, too, if you just want to drop by. And don’t forget to buy one or two of the T-shirts designed by Weta Workshop’s Daniel Falconer. All profits from the shirts and books go to support TORN, so it’s all in a good cause. Here are the times when I’ll be at the booth:
Thursday 1:30 to 2:30
Friday 11:30 to 12:30 (That’s shortly after the TORN panel)
Sunday 1:00 to 2:00.”
Copies of “The Frodo Franchise” will be available for purchase at the Slave Boy booth (booth #5424) where TORn will be located. If you’re going to Comic-Con, be sure and take this opportunity to visit with Kristin and have your copy of “The Frodo Franchise” signed! Read More

From our friend Kristin Thompson at The Frodo Franchise: “I’ve just posted a little history of Lord of the Rings and Peter Jackson decorations at the Wellington International Airport. There was more than just the rooftop Gollum! Fans who went through that airport in search of Middle-earth might have some pleasant memories revived by the pictures.” Pleasant memories indeed, Kristin. Read More

Libby writes: Thanks very much for listing the free outdoor screening of the LOTR trilogy + Hobbit Breakfast in your EVENTS blog — that is great. Hopefully folks who don’t head down to Comic-Con will come on out.
I wanted to share details about another screening of the trilogy in August, taking place at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica. Ticket prices for the entire program will be $3, and artist David Hildebrandt will introduce the screening. Continue reading “Trilogy Screening in Santa Monica”

OK, this is either really sad … or Peter Jackson did one heck of a job giving “Lord Of The Rings” even more of a historical feel that he intended. An article in the Newcastle (UK) Journal talks about the complaints on how little British kids know about the world is a bit overblown, but then they said:
It may be slightly worrying that in one recent poll fewer than half those questioned knew that Sir Francis Drake defeated the Spanish Armada. And, okay, it’s frankly terrifying that 6% of those questioned thought that this great historical victory was down to the wizard Gandalf from Lord of the Rings.
So I suppose the Corsairs sailing up the Anduin had a Spanish feel to them. [Read More]

At a new website, The Music of the Lord of the Rings Films, John Jennette has converted the information in the Annotated Scores of the LOTR films (one for each film) from pdf to html format. The Annotated Scores, written by Doug Adams, are companion pieces to the three sets of Complete Recordings and were offered as a free download at the Reprise LOTR soundtrack site. The analysis, though written for the Complete Recordings, can be applied to the movie as well and John also has sound clips available for reference.
Thanks to Doug Adams for pointing this site out to us.
