The wait is over! A second production video was just posted on Peter Jackson’s Facebook page. This one provides lots of goodies including Andy Serkis in his mo-cap suit as Gollum as well as glimpses of Bilbo, Elrond, some mysterious indoor sets and more of the gorgeous New Zealand countryside. From Yahoo! Movies: Distant cousins of Thorin Oakenshield, these two doughty Northern Dwarves join the Company out of a sense of loyalty to their kin, and also because they have a substantial sum of money invested in the venture. Along with Bombur, Gloin is the only other married Dwarf in the Company (there being a shortage of female dwarves in general). His wife is an acclaimed beauty with a particularly fine beard. Gloin is the proud father of a young son, Gimli, who will go on to become part of the famous Fellowship of the Ring.

There it is, right near the top of the newly released Comic-Con Thursday programming schedule: “10:00-11:00 TheOneRing.net: Hobbit Talk”.
That means Comic-Con is having TORn back to talk Hobbit with fans and media at one of the biggest and best popular culture celebrations in the world. Our own staffers Quickbeam and MrCere will take the stage to deliver multimedia images and words, rumors and truths and maybe even deliver a secret or two. Garfeimao and other TORn staff will be distributing some select items to the always supportive fans. Other staffers, like the mysterious Calisuri collaborate on the presentation to make it as full of information and fun as possible. Our team will also be reporting on everything Middle-earth related that we can dig up at the event that starts with preview night on July 20 and runs through the weekend.
As always TheOneRing.net is not-for-profit (nobody gets paid) and in fact, the site supports literacy charities, so look very soon for a t-shirt remnant sale to help cover our expenses for this big show.
The Thursday start time means, from past experience, that as soon as convention doors open, attendees will find the way to room 7AB in the upstairs of the conventional hall to line up for the always capacity crowds that leave many standing in the hall waiting to get in. New Line and Warner Bros. have minutes ago released a stunning production picture of Mark Hadlow as Dori, Jed Brophy as Nori, and Adam Brown as Ori in The Hobbit.
The picture is accompanied by a rather humourous description of the Dwarves:
These three brothers, all sons of the same mother, could not be more different from each other.
Dori, the oldest, spends much of his time watching out for Ori, the youngest; making sure he’s not caught a chill or got himself killed by Wargs or Goblins.
Nobody quite knows what Nori gets up to most of the time, except that it’s guaranteed to be dodgy and quite probably, illegal.
Dori, Nori and Ori are intensely loyal to each other – and whilst they are perfectly happy fighting amongst themselves, woe-betide anyone who means harm to one of these brothers.

The Dominion Post reports yet another earthquake has hit New Zealand.
Workers in Parliament dived under their desks and residents ran from their homes after a 6.5 magnitude earthquake hit the Wellington region this afternoon. A Geo Net report said the quake hit at 3.36pm at a depth of 150km and was centred 30km west of Taupo.
Wellington City Council said there were no immediate reports of damage and Civil Defence had also not received any reports of significant damage in the region. Taupō Civil Defence had also had no reports of damage.

Robert P. alerted us to a great clip on YouTube that contains so many different brands of geekery it might shut down the internet. But since one of those branches is Gollum from both Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, we feel it is our duty to share it with the TORn audience.
If you haven’t seen Neil Gaiman live (appearing on public radio in the clip) he is a supremely entertaining and talented author and storyteller. In this clip he speaks with Mythbusters‘ Adam Savage doing a rendition of Gollum singing a popular culture radio tune that gets to the heart of Gollum’s character. Savage happens to be an entertaining television figure but was a heck of a nice guy last year when speaking with TORn at Comic-Con. We think is worth a few minutes of your geekery.
