The wait is over! A second production video was just posted on Peter Jackson’s Facebook page. This one provides lots of goodies including Andy Serkis in his mo-cap suit as Gollum as well as glimpses of Bilbo, Elrond, some mysterious indoor sets and more of the gorgeous New Zealand countryside. John Callen as Oin and Peter Hambleton as Gloin in Warner Bros. Pictures’ The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey – 2012

From Yahoo! Movies: Distant cousins of Thorin Oakenshield, these two doughty Northern Dwarves join the Company out of a sense of loyalty to their kin, and also because they have a substantial sum of money invested in the venture. Along with Bombur, Gloin is the only other married Dwarf in the Company (there being a shortage of female dwarves in general). His wife is an acclaimed beauty with a particularly fine beard. Gloin is the proud father of a young son, Gimli, who will go on to become part of the famous Fellowship of the Ring.

Analysis of the image is pending, meanwhile take a look at the growing collection! First Dori, Nori and Ori, and now Gloin & Oin.

We reported last week that EMPIRE would be featuring The Hobbit on their Aug 2011 cover. Today, they have posted those images on their website for your viewing pleasure! The first is a very similar image to what we’ve already seen from EW.com. However, in this version Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins is facing the camera and we get a much clearer view of the Dwarven document in his hands. The second pic is of Ian McKellen as Gandalf standing in an empty Bag End. Check them out at the EMPIRE website and don’t forget to pick up your copy on newsstands!  [EMPIRE]

Middle-earth Madness invades LA today and TheOneRing.net will be hosting the activities throughout the day!  For those of us not able to make the event in LA, we will be occasionally streaming live from the event as the more exciting events happen, and as our amateur internet connection allows. For those of you lucky enough to be attending at the West LA Best Buy, you’ll be competing for some great prizes with the LA TORn staff, including everyone’s favorite Tolkien emcee, Quickbeam! We also have late word that FRINGE star and LOTR vet John Noble, as well as Sauron himself, Sala Baker, will be in attendance. There are also rumors a few other cast members might just drop by for fun! Of course the real countdown will be to the midnight release of The Lord of the Rings Extended Edition on Blu-Ray and the awarding of the costuming Grand Prize – a trip to New Zealand! Staffer MrCere called it last Thursday when the first images of The Hobbit were released by EW.com. He said, in this industry, it is highly unusual for just one single media outlet to get photos. Expect a few similar, but slightly different publicity shots to make the rounds with other publications in the next few weeks. Well, here we are, a few days later, and EMPIRE magazine is sharing their new cover featuring Gandalf and Bilbo! Again, it looks like Bilbo is pouring over some ‘Terms’…which may be a revelation into a small, possibly humorous change in the opening sequence. More on that later! So check your local newsstands for the August 2011 edition of EMPIRE magazine and the June 24th issue of Entertainment Weekly to start your The Hobbit collection! Of course we will alert you when other publications are printed with The Hobbit imagery. And who knows, maybe we’ll even get a few pics! *wink* *wink* *hint* *hint* [Empire]

We are just days away! Get your costumes ready and join TheOneRing.net and fellow Ringers at Best Buy in Los Angeles on Monday, June 27th for the midnight launch and celebration of The Lord of the Rings The Motion Picture Trilogy Extended Edition on Blu-ray! The party starts officially at 12 noon on the 27th at Best Buy’s West side store at 11301 W. Pico. Blvd. [Best Buy Store Info/Map]

The first 150 guests in line at the store on Monday, June 27th at Noon will have the opportunity to get an autograph from cast members of the films. Costume Contest entrants will be judged by your friends here at TheOneRing.net and finalists personally selected by the four-time Academy Award(R)-winning Sir Richard Taylor, co-owner and lead creative at Weta Workshop.
