In the era of digital books, music, and movies – everything 
seems possible. It seems the imagination is no longer a limiting factor. Bluewater Productions has published a limited-edition graphic novel biography covering the life and impact of J.R.R. Tolkien: “ORBIT: JRR TOLKIEN True Lord of the Rings” Originally released in May and sold exclusively through comic book shops, its now for sale on iTunes.
Authors Michael Lent and Brian McCarthy researched Tolkien’s life in great detail “We’re definitely fans,” artist Luis Chichón said “But we wanted to make sure readers get full measure of the man. That beyond his work in fantasy he was a fragile World War I veteran, well-respected philologist and university professor…all of which played a part in his creation of Middle Earth.”

Our HobbitCon (aka Comic-Con) recap continues with a look at the Sideshow Collectibles booth. Featured this year we many of the items that you have seen reviewed in this column as well as some great upcoming items to further your Middle-earth collection. The new items included the Ringwraith Statue (shipping in August), the Twilight Witch-King statue, and the imposing Ringwraith on Steed Premium Format. They also had two items that we know very little about: The Sauron Premium Format and the Frodo/Sam in Orc Armor statue. Both of these items ranked among the very best at their booth and are sure to be items that any The Lord of the Rings fans will want to add to their collection. Thanks to Ringer David H from Auckland NZ, we have this link to a wonderfully revealing and in-depth PDF from The Department of Welfare and Housing Te Tari Kaupapa Whare. The document is titled: Compliance of barriers to a bridge located on a former film set at 501 Buckland Road, Matamata. You see, the bridge made famous in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit was considered to be not complying with Clause F4 Safety from falling of the Building Code, and and as a result seemed to ultimately be required to make some adjustments to allow public use. However, after a lot of discussion, notes and analysis, you’ll see that Manager Determinations John Gardiner has reversed a previous decision and decided the bridge, in its current form, qualifies for code compliance! Peter Jackson and company swooped into Comic-Con and unleashed some footage for the ravenous fans there but now he has unleashed Vlog #8 from his Facebook page full of spoilers, Comic-Con footage, John Howe, lots of actors saying hi and a little nostalgia from the crew. If you can stand a view of stone giants, Beorn’s house, Andy Serkis jamming on a sax and an absurd amount of “Hobbit” stuff, it is a must watch. The film hasn’t been released yet and already producer Michael Pellerin and his crew of behind-the-scenes people are making us nostalgic for it! And, sure sounded like Jackson reads TheOneRing.
