Elijah Wood and Andy Serkis visit the WETA booth to say hello to Richard Taylor, Daniel Falconer and the crew.
The WETA team took the opportunity to show-off the full-size trolls they have on display. It’s the first time Frodo has seen the actual trolls. Andy Serkis was spotted with a Pocketses button from TheOneRing.net.

iamROGUE.com caught up with Elijah Wood at the San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday while he was promoting his current FX series Wilfred. iamROGUE’s reporter took a few moments to ask about his return to New Zealand and what he felt on reprising his role as Frodo Baggins.
Wood replied: “The part is so small that I had no pressure of the original films. I could just come in and revisit the character.”
Highlight possible spoiler: asked whether he will bookend the films, Wood replied, “yeah, that’s kinda the idea.” Could Wood pop up at the end as well as the beginning?
Wood will be at the The Hobbit panel presentation in Hall H on Saturday.

Peter Jackson has just posted a lengthy message on his Facebook even as he jets out to make for the land where Hobbit Con, erm, Comic Con is in full swing.
Highlights include:
PJ also explains at length his decision to film the Hobbit Reel at 24 fps and in 2D at Comic Con, stating that the only way one can make a fair judgement about the higher frame rate is not by glimpsing quick clips in a trailer-like sequence, but rather by experiencing the story in its entirety – tremendous reassurance that, come December, it would be worth our whiles to embolden ourselves and experience The Hobbit at least once in 48 fps, in a good cinema.
For now, all eyes are on Comic Con and tomorrow’s highly-anticipated Warner Bros. Hobbit panel. You can be sure TORn’s staffers will be bringing you the most comprehensive coverage of the event via our special Hobbit @ Comic Con webspace.
TORn forum member DarkJackal (who gets full credit for this article) made a fascinating find about the 1:6 scale Thorin Oakenshield miniature being made by WETA and currently on exhibition at Comic-Con.
Seemingly, the statue comes with a backgrounder on the packaging. It reads:
A proud and noble Dwarf of resolute character and stern bearing, Thorin was the grandson of Thror of the line of Durin and heir to the lost throne of Erebor. Alongside Moria, Erebor stood as the greatest of the realms of the Dwarves, a vast kingdom carved from the living rock of The Lonely Mountain, bustling with trade and bursting with wealth.
Down upon Erebor the great dragon Smaug had fallen and the city and its people were engulfed by the inferno of his coming. Thorin and his kin were fortunate to escape with their lives, though they left everything else behind. Over at Elendilion.pl, the folks of Gwaith-i-Phethdain, (which means The Fellowship of the Word-smiths) have been doing some linguistic research based on the latest close-up pictures of Dwalin’s axes and Thorin Oakenshield’s Orcrist.
They report the runic (Angerthas Moria) inscriptions on Dwalin’s axes are Neo-Khuzdûl words that probably mean Grasper and Keeper. Apparently it’s a pun reference to the Bronte sisters’ pet dogs? The runes on Orcrist (scribed using Angerthas Daeron) translate as Tooth of Snake Orcrist.
