I blame Canada Post for my missing out on The Toast festivities a few weeks back on January 3rd. You see the folks behind the forthcoming War in the North videogame planned an event to celebrate The Professor’s birthday in unison with geeks all across the land, on January 3rd we were to raise our collective glasses and cheer before preparing to go off to war! While this event did indeed happen, I did not participate! Seems Canada Post caused a delay and I did not receive a very special package that was promised to me weeks earlier by the folks at WB Games. Well it finally did arrive, with plenty of cool goodies for me to giveaway so fear not! We shall all be going to War (in the North) very soon! Check out the awesome package and stay tuned for your chance to win War in the North goodies from WB Games and be sure to check out www.warinthenorth.com. Cliff ‘Quickbeam’ Broadway and Justin Sewell from Slave Boy Films have produced a series of great podcasts for TheOneRing.net over the years. We have finally gotten around to gathering them all together in our newly opened ‘TORN TV’ channel on YouTube, take a look!
Fiordland residents have spotted director Peter Jackson, along with five helicopters, as he hunts for filming spots for The Hobbit movies. Yesterday, Jackson’s spokesman, Matt Dravitzki, confirmed Jackson was location scouting in the Queenstown area before filming starts next month. He would be there for a “few days” and crews were also looking for sites in the North Island. Dravitzki said he was unprepared to offer further details until filming started. Jackson is adapting JRR Tolkien’s prequel to The Lord of the Rings trilogy into two movies. His private jet, a Gulfstream, was seen at Queenstown Airport on Monday. More..
Theodred posted this over on our message boards and I thought it was post worthy: Access Hollywood video-interviewed Sean Astin and Dominic Monaghan about their involvement in The Hobbit (among other stuff), and both said they’re probably not in The Hobbit.

During a sketch called “Global Chaos Round Up” on The Daily Show, John Stewart brought up the recent government collapse in Tunisia and how that might sadden those around the world who wanted to visit the same desert where Star Wars was filmed.
He then laments “what am I suppose to do for spring break now? Go to New Zealand for the Lord Of The Rings tour … AGAIN?”. He continues with a bit more on visiting Hobbiton, using the typical tongue-planted-firmly-in-cheek satirical humor The Daily Show is known for.
Thought joking, I’d bet Stewart really has attended a LOTR tour, maybe on the advice of Tolkien geek and Comedy Central buddy Stephen Colbert. Check it out! The Daily Show
Here’s some news concerning what’s NOT going to happen in the upcoming Hobbit films. The Belfast Telegraph caught up with Sean Bean who, as fans well know, played the tragic character Boromir in the Lord of the Rings films, and asked him whether he sees himself returning to The Hobbit in some way.
Here’s what Sean Bean had to say:
I don’t think so. I played Boromir and I got knocked off in the end so I don’t think it would be… I mean I could come back as a different character but I think he [Peter Jackson] is looking for a new kind of style and maybe a new look.
I know a few people who are in it and should be very exciting.
