One of the last remaining products from Comic-Con 2013 and one of the Dwarves I’ve been most looking forward to, has finally come up for order. As we know, Gimli Son of Gloin was a member of The Fellowship and had his own statue during The Lord of the Rings statue line. Now, after more than a decade fans of Gimli can add his dad Gloin, who is one of Thorin’s companions in his quest to take back Erebor. Gloin is a limited edition statue of only 1,000 pieces worldwide and comes with a price of $249. You can order him now and expect him to ship in December/January according to his product page. Also, if you’re a fan of Black Friday here in the United States stay tuned to the Weta website for deals starting from November 29th at 12am.

Back in 2011, we told you about fan created film The Fellows Hip – Rise of the Gamers. With a slightly changed name – it’s now simply called Rise of the Fellowship – this comic movie about geeks at a gaming competition has now been given a release date! The film, which won the GenCon 2012 Film Festival, will be available December 3rd on VOD, Walmarkt, iTunes, and you can already pre-order on Amazon.com.
The creators tell us that Rise of the Fellowship ‘is a buddy-comedy written in honor of online gamers and The Lord of the Rings. Full of Tolkien-references and good-hearted parody, The Fellows Hip [sic] will appeal to Tolkien-fans and gamers alike, as well as anyone who’s never been part of the in-crowd.’ Continue reading “Fan film ‘Rise of the Fellowship’ gets release date”
We’ve received many enquiries from readers wondering why the number of figures for Wave 2 of The Hobbit Trilogy line from The Bridge Direct is smaller than Wave 1.
Tonight, via their Facebook page, our friends at The Bridge Direct answered this very question. While Wave 2 is going to be a small wave, it does sound like we could see a larger Wave 3 if all goes well. Continue reading “Collecting The Precious – The Bridge Direct Wave 2 Update”
Last night Weta Workshop released two more prop replica items from The Hobbit Trilogy. The first is an item I have personally been looking forward to getting since the films were announced. The escape from Thranduil’s halls is one of the best parts of the book and this item plays a pivotal role in that escape. Fans can now own their own replica of The Mirkwood Gaol Key that Bilbo uses to rescue the Dwarves. As we all know the Dwarves were given seven rings of power and one of these rings went to Thoror who was the King of the Longbeards. Thanks to the craftsmen at Weta you can now bring home this ring of power. Collectors can snag The Mirkwood Gaol Key for $29.99 and Thror’s Ring of Power for $174.99
