Sideshow Collectibles went double dipped yesterday for The Lord of the Rings fans in their maquette line. Arwen Undómiel will be the next character to join the parade of characters in the maquette line. In the teaser image we see that she is wearing the outfit during The Fellowship of the Ring when she catches a certain ranger ‘off his guard.’ As of right now, all we have is this teaser image but it does let us know that we will be getting a second maquette sometime after Comic-Con. So make sure you stay tuned to TORn for all the details when this beautiful piece goes up for order. [View the Preview] [Enter Collection]

Sideshow Collectibles Online Comic-Con event is into its sixth day and it brings us another new The Lord of the Rings collectible. This new collectible will be joining Sideshow’s maquette line and the character responsible will be Boromir son of Denethor. In this maquette Boromir will be captured during a sequence from the extended edition of The Two Towers where he plants a flag while giving a speech when Osgiliath is recovered.

This piece has an amazing likeness to Sean Bean and yet another must have piece in this growing maquette collection. The exclusive to the Boromir maquette will be an additional switch out right arm allowing you to have variable display options. The edition size of the exclusive Boromir maquette is 500 pieces world wide and will have a price tag of $250 along with a $25 Non-Refundable Deposit. Boromir is expected to ship during the first quarter of 2012 so make sure to get your order in before it sells out. [Exclusive Edition] [Regular Edition]

During Toy Fair 2010, Sideshow Collectibles announced they would be going back to their roots in their The Lord of the Rings license by once again doing maquettes of the characters in Middle-earth. What Sideshow told us was that this line would give us different aspects of the characters we have grown to love. Also during the video (view it here) from Toy Fair we got a tease of the concept drawings of several early pieces in the line.

Then in December of last year, during the twelve days of Sideshow, we got a beautiful look at protos of the pieces to come. The image included: Aragorn as Strider, Gandalf The Grey, Arwen, Legolas, and a hidden character in the back. The hidden character was Gimli, Son of Gloin and shortly after we got a great preview video of the upcoming Boromir maquette. We’re now two pieces in hand for this line with Aragorn already in our collections and now Gandalf the Grey joins him.

For the folks at Weta to be successful they need super talented people to help bring the world of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit to life. These folks are responsible for making the award-winning armor, weapons, costumes, and, of course, digital effects that have gained them so much acclaim. I thought for you all it would be great if we could sit down with one of these amazing individuals to find out what it’s like to help bring these worlds to life.

Well, Daniel Falconer one of the key artists at Weta has been kind enough to sit down and answer a few questions for everyone. As many of you may know Daniel been apart of amazing pieces like Bag End, Rivendell, Treebeard’s bust, and books like The Art of District 9. Having had a chance to own or see many of these pieces I was quite eager to sit down with Daniel and get his thoughts on being apart of helping Weta create  these amazing things. After, reading this Q&A I would suggest to all the readers to get one of these great collectibles Daniel and Weta have created.
