Bluepilgrim writes: The 2-week-old Montgomery Cinema n’ Drafthouse in Wheaton, Maryland will be presenting the annual Lord of the Rings Movie Festival with all-three theatrical versions, costume and Gollum impersonation contests on Sunday October 26th beginning at 11:30am. Viggo Peter Mortensen, Jr. (born October 20, 1958) is a Golden Globe- and Academy Award-nominated American theater and movie actor, poet, musician, photographer and painter. He is perhaps best known for his roles as Aragorn in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, Frank T. Hopkins in Hidalgo, David Shaw in A Perfect Murder, Tom Stall in David Cronenberg’s A History of Violence and his Academy Award nominated role as Nikolai Luzhin in Cronenberg’s Eastern Promises.

Annette writes: The trailer for Reclaiming the Blade, Galatia Film’s documentary on swords and sword fighting is full of LOTR folks. It begins with comments by John Howe who is followed by Richard Taylor, Viggo Mortensen, John Rhys Davies (the film’s narrator), Karl Urban and, of course, swordmaster Bob Anderson. There are clips of all of our favorite sword fights and the list of authorities on the film’s web site is would make an incredible melee!.
