Peter Jackson is planning to set up a film museum in Wellington, sources say. It is understood the development, with a working name of New Zealand Movie World, is planned for opposite his Park Road Post Production facility in Miramar. Props from Jackson’s movies – including his Lord of the Rings trilogy and as far back as Bad Taste in 1987 – would be on public display. A film school could also be included in the development.
A spokesman for Jackson said yesterday that there had been “nothing new and nothing active” in planning for a Wellington-based movie museum and film school since a similar proposal for Shelly Bay fell over about a year ago. More..

Peter Jackson has had a busy old 2009 between The Lovely Bones, shepherding District 9, co-writing The Hobbit and overseeing Tintin. But now he’s started to look again at future projects and has pulled out dragon adventure Temeraire as a possibility for his next project.
Ain’t It Cool chatted with the man, and he revealed that the adaptation of Naomi Novik’s book series, which reimagines the Napoleonic wars with dragons, could finally be making its way to a screen – just not necessarily the cinema. More..

In an interview today with MTV, Peter Jackson revealed that three Lord of the Rings actors will be returning to reprise their roles in The Hobbit:
“Gandalf, being a 2,000-year-old wizard, is still around and plays a major role in ‘The Hobbit,’ and we’re having Ian McKellen reprise,” explained the filmmaker, who is executive-producing the flick and writing the screenplay. “There’s a couple of other characters: Elrond, who was played by Hugo Weaving [in the original films], and there’s a possibility of Galadriel, who was played by Cate Blanchett.”
