5902_10151432670307303_1296019511_nThis is the year of Smaug for fans of Middle-earth. We’ve already had a great trailer giving us a solid look at the head of the Dragon and cool teaser poster. Weta Workshop has produced another exclusive again  for this years Comic-Con and it follows the Dragon theme I previously mentioned. This year for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug they will have a T-Shirt with the title of the movie on the front and the eye of Smaug as we see it at the end of  The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. The shirt will be limited to only 500 shirts and can be had at their booth 3513B.

Empire’s Desolation of Smaug edition cover is here, and it’s pretty nice. Interesting that it’s all elves, featuring Tauriel (Evangeline Lilly), Thranduil (Lee Pace) and Legolas (Orlando Bloom). Come to think of it, the teaser trailer had a heavy focus on elves too. Some are suggesting that this might indicate we should expect a much larger elven presence in Desolation of Smaug as a result.

Anyway, Empire promises many more insights into this second installment of The Hobbit — all accrued on set in New Zealand. How many? More “than you can shake a wizard’s staff” at apparently. Continue reading “Say hello to Empire’s Desolation of Smaug edition!”

desolation-of-smaug Via Ringer The Hutt: a couple of reports have surfaced from the most recent Supanova event in Sydney (held just this weekend) that the world premiere of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug may be bound for Moscow. Seems as though Jed Brophy and Aidan Turner have an idea they could be headed for Russia come December, and indicated as much to fans during one of the signing sessions.

[Aidan Turner] signed my Hobbit book whilst we talked about Wellington not having a premiere and he said that the cast might go to Moscow and another city in Europe.
