Voronwë_the_Faithful, our resident message board legal brain, posted today about some developments in the lawsuit between the Tolkien Estate and New Line. Keep in mind this is simply one person’s opinions but they are an interesting read by somebody who understands the law and can explain it simply. It starts, “New Line has now filed a motion for summary adjudication of the plaintiff’s cause of action seeking the right to terminate New Line’s future rights to make the Hobbit films (or other Tolkien films). The interview features a great but short collection of clips and then the two jump into the rich soil of GDT’s imagination. Rose is his usual warm self and the director of the two “The Hobbit” movies is passionate about monsters, movies, writing, life and the horror of banal reality and tabloid existence. Christopher Frank Carandini Lee CBE; it was a mouthful even before the announcement of his knighthood in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List last month, shortly before his 87th birthday, for services to the dramatic arts. Unofficially, Christopher Lee remains the king of the franchises, the only common denominator between the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Star Wars series, the Bond films and the Hammer horrors.
By the estimation of most movie buffs Lee is the most prolific actor alive, possibly in cinematic history, with more than 350 big-screen credits to his name. Nor is there any sign of him slowing down. He plays a Spanish psychiatrist in the forthcoming Triage, one of four 2009 releases graced by his distinctive basso-profundo tones, if not always his aristocratic features (one of them is the animation Monster Mania, which he gleefully describes as “extremely funny”).
