We must close out the group for TORn’s Hobbit Premiere Tour this week, so this is your last chance to join in this historic trip. Rooms in Wellington are in great demand right now, and we can no longer hold onto unsold space. So after Wednesday, anyone making an inquiry to join the trip will need to wait for a confirmation of space and a possible change to existing pricing. Please see our Tour Page for all the details, including schedule, contact information and the Registration Form. The tour will include 4 nights in Wellington during the time Wellington will be gearing up for the premiere, and then 2 nights in Auckland and a day trip down to Matamata, home of the Hobbiton movie set. There will be a Premiere party in Wellington, as well as the actual Red Carpet event, as seen in the photo, and a luncheon at Hobbiton.  All with a wonderful Fellowship of fellow fans, visiting one of the most delightful countries you can imagine.

Don’t be left wondering ‘what if’ once November rolls around and TORn’s coverage of the Premiere kicks into high gear.

USA Today has just debuted six new photos from The Hobbit. There’s a great one of The Unexpected Party, another of Thorin Oakenshield looking very “questy”, and one beautiful image of Gollum, but the real eye-opener is Sylevester McCoy’s Radagast the Brown. There’s just something about his eyes that’s extraordinary. You know what I mean when you go have a look! Thanks to Ringer Owain for the heads-up! Oh, and SPOILERS!

From the very brief accompanying article: “I’m not a huge fan of fantasy for fantasy’s sake,” Jackson says. “I like Tolkien’s work because of the language, the cultures he wrote about… they’re anchored in a very real historical mythology that he created.”

With the publication of “The Hobbit,” in its 75th Anniversary year and Bilbo’s and Frodo’s birthday party events coming up on September 22, declared “Hobbit Day” by the American Tolkien Society in 1978, filmmaker Peter Jackson posted a video on Facebook today explaining the the film community will also join in the celebration with “Tolkien Week.”

Jackson verbally teased a new trailer for the first of his trio of Hobbit films based on the books by J.R.R. Tolkien. His announced release date for the trailer of the 19th means that it will likely be online before it hits theaters on the 21st, attached to movies rolling out that day. Start saving your bandwidth now. You can see Jackson’s video on his facebook page and on TheOneRing’s. And, if you are near the L.A. area, or can arrange to be, TORn is celebrating its 10th annual Hobbit Baggins Birthday Bash.

Warner Bros. has released a new site specializing in the tastes of Middle-earth. Featuring such categories as sweets & treats, main courses and breakfast foods, it also provides a way for users to submit recipes. Steven Hunter’s Bombur is featured as the face of Middle-earth culinary delights and his cookbook is a linked tab as well. That may even be a clue into the character but more than that, it is a sign that WB wants to have a little fun with its December tent-pole movie.
The official description says:
Recipes From Middle-earth
Fellow travelers, we welcome you to sample this collection of recipes for authentic Middle-earth cuisine cultivated by the Dwarf Company’s heartiest appetite. Give each dish a rating, and submit your own recipes for others to enjoy and appraise too!
