Ringer-spy Rosie-with-the-ribbons sent us the following report from this years RingCon.
Last weekend there was another RingCon in Bonn, Germany, the 11th RingCon to be precise.
In the last few years more and more fandoms have been invited to attend. And this year we were very happy to greet a big number of Game of Thrones-stars and their beautifully costumed fans to the event. But I am going to focus on all the LOTR-stuff that happened.

The German fan site Herr-der-Ringe-Film has posted new pictures from The Hobbit movies that are currently on display at the Frankfurt Book Fair. The picture to the right depicts Lee Pace, as Thranduil. Thranduil is the king of the elves of Mirkwood, and father to Legolas. Here, we see him in an intricate silver costume with his head adorned by a silver crown entwined with leaves. Another new picture depicts Legolas aiming his bow and arrow towards the camera. There’s also a great picture of Elrond in armor, already revealed to be in the Hobbit movie calendar.
The Frankfurt Book Fair is billed as the largest book fair on the planet. It runs through tomorrow (Sunday, October 14), so if you’re lucky enough to be in the area, be sure to stop by. In the mean time, head on over to Herr-der-Ringe-Film and check out the pictures. Read More…

Details coming soon….!!!
Update: as hinted in the circle in the top right of the pictured magazine, The One Ring.net has partnered with Topix Media Lab to produce a beautiful collector’s edition magazine about The Hobbit. Side-bars and feature articles, contributed by TORn staff, include interviews, character and actor profiles, a comparison of the book vs. the movie, articles on games and collectibles, a wonderful Middle-earth timeline and much, much more. The magazine is also packed with colorful pictures of cast and crew members, locations, collectibles, gorgeous fan art and a few exclusives! One thing that makes this truly a collector’s edition is that there are only two ads in the entire magazine. The magazine hit shelves in the last 24 hours in stores such as Barnes & Noble and Wal-Mart, but be sure and also look anywhere magazines are sold. It is currently only available in the U.S., so be especially nice to your U.S. friends and maybe they’ll find one or two and send them along.
We at TheOneRing would like to thank all of you who come visit us an who have helped make our journey together the best fan experience ever. Following is our tribute to you from inside the magazine: “J.R.R. Tolkien wrote some of the most inspiring novels of all time. “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy and “The Hobbit” have inspired television specials, movies, musicals, and now, this magazine. But this isn’t a book about The Hobbit (though there’s plenty of coverage of Peter Jackson’s upcoming films). This is about you, the fans. TheOneRing.net has covered all things Tolkien for more than ten years, and was forged for fans, by fans. This tribute magazine is created in that spirit.”

Thanks to Ringer Mulubinba for alerting to two recent podcast interviews by abc.net.au. with Mark Hadlow, who plays dwarf Dori in the upcoming Hobbit movies. The first interview was on the blog, “Afternoons with Richard Stubbs” and the second was done by reporter Margaret Burin . In the interviews, a very charming Mark reveals some great details about his character, Dori the dwarf, and what it was like working with director Peter Jackson and actors such as Sir Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman and Cate Blanchett. Both are well worth a listen! Interview 1 Interview 2.
