If you have not purchased your tickets for Comic-Con 2008 (July 23-27 2008, San Diego CA), you may want to get a move on! While the four day passes are sold out, they have just started selling single day tickets and they are moving quickly (especially the Saturday Tickets!) Tolkien fans who attend this year will have more than a few panels and places to visit during the event. We may be slightly biased, but we suggest making sure you get to Comic-Con on Friday morning – more about that later! For now, make sure you secure your tickets! [Comic-Con 2008]

New Zealand’s TV3 has an interview with Richard Taylor in the new Weta Cave, which he’s clearly very proud of. It’s long been a dream of his to have a permanent place where his team’s work could be enjoyed and appreciated. To display the results of over twenty years work in the film industry, much of it in collaboration with Peter Jackson, Weta have created a fantasy grotto stuffed with props and models. View
Weta recently opened its “Weta Cave” to give visitors something cool to see when they make the journey to the gentle neighborhood in Wellington where one of the world’s most important film special effects houses sits. I visited the Cave a few weeks before it officially opened and believe me, I felt like I was walking sacred movie-production ground. This Sunday the already must-visit destination is the site of a pretty incredible afternoon celebrating the New Zealand release of “Prince Caspian.” Continue reading “Weta Cave’s “Narnia Day” set for Sunday”

Ringer board member Tedster88 sends us a heads up that James McAvoy, the actor who is rumored to be Bilbo Baggins in the upcoming Hobbit films, will be participating in an interview with BBC One’s ‘Friday Night with Jonathan Ross.’ Here’s to hoping that Mr. Ross will ask James about the rumors and gage his interest in taking up the role. Afterall, Mr. McAvoy is winning our unofficial fan poll! [BBC One Schedule]
As many of you know, TheOneRing.net has been contributing bi-weekly Tolkien updates for ‘To Be Continued… with Sohaib and Stuart,’ a pop culture show on WNJC 1360 AM, Philadephia. For a variety of reasons, not the least of which was the content of the show before ‘To Be Continued…,’ TheOneRing.net will now be providing that same segment on a new show called ‘Fictional Frontiers with Sohaib,’ featuring host the very same Sohaib Awan. This show will air in a more family friendly time slot, 11AM-NOON ET on the same station, WNJC 1360 AM, Philadephia. The first show will be this week and we hope you can join us for some interesting talk about Tolkien, The Hobbit, maybe some prizes and more! As always, the show will be streamed live for those of you who live outside Philadelphia. [Fictional Frontiers] [Netcast]
