LOTR SymphonyRingers Nerwen and Jussi sent us excited emails this morning with the good news for Finnish ‘The Lord of the Rings’ fans:

The Lord of the Rings Symphony will be coming to Finland for the first time in May 2009. Tampere Philharmonic will perform the symphony on the 1st and 2nd of May 2009 in the Tampere-talo, with the Tampere Philharmonic Choir and the Pirkanpojat boy’s choir. The performance will be conducted by Markus Huber, who has travelled with the performance in many countries. Soprano Ann De Renais will perform as the soloist.

Tickets will go on sale June 23rd for these performances. [More Info]

fotrOn prime time television last night in the U.S. the American Film Institute named “The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings,” as the #2 fantasy movie of all time as part of its program of the 10 best films in 10 genres. “The Wizard of Oz,” won the top fantasy film ever according to the group which releases “top” lists occasionally that stir up discussion about films. Cast members Sean Astin and Dominic Monaghan each were featured in clips talking about FOTR as well as other films included in the program. Erin writes in: “The Fellowship of the Ring will be playing at midnight in Kennewick, WA as part of Regal Cinemas Flashback Features program. Liv Tyler Liv Tyler is making the chat show rounds promoting a little movie called ‘The Incredible Hulk’ which is due out tomorrow (June 13th). Tonight she will be on ‘The Jimmy Kimmel Show’ on ABC, and then she follows that up tomorrow with a visit to ‘Live! with Regis and Kelly’.
