Our friend Michiel Stevens from DeHobbit.net has passed on a message that the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Ludwig Wicki, will be presenting a ‘live to projection’ performance of Howard Shore’s score for The Fellowship of the Ring at The Concertgebouw in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, this Saturday 4th June 2011, and Sunday 5th June 2011.

(Los Angeles, June 3, 2011) — A nine-city West Coast tour of the highly anticipated The Lord of the Rings In Concert: The Fellowship of the Ring will begin on October 12 at Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, Arizona. Featuring Howard Shore’s complete Academy Award® and Grammy®–winning score performed live on-stage by more than 200 musicians, the Glendale presentation of Fellowship will be followed by engagements in San Diego, Las Vegas, Anaheim, Portland, Seattle, Fresno, Oakland and Sacramento. Tickets go on sale on Friday, June 10 for all cities.

Celebrated Maestro Ludwig Wicki, the preeminent conductor of Howard Shore’s Ring music, will conduct all performances. Now that we know the official release dates for the two The Hobbit films, it was only a matter of time for other studios to start adjusting their schedules. First up, according to the HollywoodNews.com, is Ang Lee’s anticipated adaptation of Yann Martel’s ‘Life of Pi,’  which has pushed its release back a week to December 21st 2012. The Hobbit films, whether critically acclaimed or not, will ultimately rule the first two weekends at the box office. It is probably a very good strategy to avoid competition! Remember how Star Trek: Nemesis opened very close to The Two Towers in 2002? That was the death knell for Trekkies worldwide until the reboot a few years ago. The Washington Post has posted a series of photos from the Tolkien reenactment that takes place every spring in Doksy, Czech Republic. There are some amazing costumes and battles showcased, but we do have to point out one small detail. We don’t think the warrior with the bikini briefs was a core character in Tolkien’s Middle-earth. Today, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Snowblind Studios reveal a sneak peek at their E3 offerings, with an onslaught of assets for The Lord of the Rings: War in the North. As our heroes’ travels lead to E3, the Fellowship of three expands to include a new member – heroes will rise.

The great eagles have traveled with the Fellowship before, lending their keen eye and stamina in support of the three, the human, elf and dwarf. As the party arrives at the ruins of Fornost, Beleram, the noblest of these creatures, breaks from chains to join the Fellowship, becoming its fourth member.
