Middle-earth. The next statue in The Lord of the Rings statue line is the Twilight Witch-king statue! It is a superb looking mirror image of the Ringwraith statue released a while back. This statue gives fans a chance to pair this up with the Ringwraith and show what both Frodo as well as the other Hobbits/Strider saw while on Weathertop. Thanks to Ali, over at RichardArmitageNet.com for sharing some new images in the lively discussion happening on our Hobbit discussion board regarding the recent Entertainment Weekly article on The Hobbit. Two additional pictures are apparently available on the tablet version of the article that celebrates The Hobbit and Comic-Con. In one of the new images, we see a ‘kinder, gentler’ version of Thorin (right), as well as Dwalin and Balin putting their heads together to discuss something in Bag End while Bilbo stands behind them overhearing their conversation (looking a bit worried). They also have scans of the article for those who haven’t run out and purchased the real thing yet.
Be sure to stay tuned for massive coverage of Comic-Con, happening in San Diego July 12-15, by our many talented TORn staffers who will be your eyes and ears on everything Hobbity (including the much-anticipated TORn Comic-Con Hobbit panel (Thursday, July 12, from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m., in room 6DE – read the full article about it here)
Ages ago, John Rhys-Davies spent a few days visiting the Hobbit set while he was in New Zealand. Unlike Elijah Wood or Orlando Bloom, for well-known reasons there was no announcement that he would reprise his role as Gimli son of Gloin.
However, at a recent convention, a Reddit reader asked him point-blank about a possible cameo in the Hobbit.
At first [Rhys-Davies] denied it, but after a little pressing he smiled really big, laughed, winked, and said that maybe it was possible. His smile… his laugh… I’m taking this as a pretty big indicator that he will be involved in some small way.
Considering that in Lord of the Rings, Rhys-Davies also provided the voice of Treebeard, could it be possible that for The Hobbit he might cameo something like the voice of one of the trolls? (Highlight the sentence to see our hidden, possibly spoilerish speculation!)
Folks in Christchurch have the chance to catch Sylvester McCoy at the Armageddon Expo today (Sat June 30) and tomorrow (Sun July 1) at the Stables in Addington Raceway.
Entry is $5, and McCoy will be signing between 3pm and 5pm both days. He’s also doing a Doctor Who panel (I saw it I swear!) but I can’t currently locate the time on the Armageddon website.
