Movie news website Comingsoon has posted a gallery of sneak-peek images from this year’s Comic-Con. It seems that set-up is well under-way.
And stuff from WB’s much-anticipated Hobbit set?
Well, in addition to a high-resolution download of the poster of Gandalf near Bag End that we collectively drooled over a few days ago, there’s a brand-new photo of three massive trolls in a huddle. Go check them out!

Comic-Con 2012 kicks off on Thursday and is expected to attract more than 125,000 people. Elijah Wood, reprising his Frodo Baggins for The Hobbit, will be back there this year — a decade after he accompanied director Peter Jackson to promote Fellowship of the Ring.
Wood told Reuters: “The scale of The Hobbit is larger, the anticipation is potentially greater, everything feels a little bit bigger. For so long, people didn’t think there would be a film, so the fact that there is finally, people have been anticipating this for a long time.”
Reuters says the studio will finally show extended film clips [my emphasis] at Comic-Con. Jackson is expected to turn out to meet fans and answer questions. Thanks to Ringer Elpidha for the heads-up on the article.

The highly anticipated San Diego Comic-Con will feature appearances from many of the major stars of the upcoming Hobbit movies. Fans of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit who have kids, take note! In addition to the big stars of The Hobbit, San Diego Comic-Con will also feature the little stars of Nimpentoad, a children’s fantasy book (www.nimpentoad.com).
The furry bright-eyed little Nimpentoad is tired of being picked on by the bigger and meaner creatures of the ancient shadowy Grunwald Forest. He convinces his fellow Niblings to make the perilous journey to a castle where they hope to find refuge. Along the way, they are confronted by ravenous goblins, trolls, rhinotaurs and other perils. But with teamwork and Nimpentoad’s leadership, the Niblings outwit these menaces. Continue reading “TORn to give away “The Hobbit with Training Wheels” at Comic-Con”

Our friends at Badali Jewelry are giving our readers a rare sneak peek at one of the first items in their newly licensed “The Hobbit” line of jewelry: Thror’s Key!
“It is easy to forget the the events of The Hobbit were hinged on a very simple object, a secret key that would open a secret door. This was Thrór’s Key. Thorin’s Dwarven party desired to reclaim the Lonely Mountain from Smaug, The Dragon, more then anything. The answer to the dwarves quest was a map, door and key created in secret by Thorin’s grandfather, Thrór. Gandalf presents Thorin with this secret key when the party joins together at Bilbo Baggins home. “Here it is!” he said, and handed to Thorin a key with a long barrel and intricate wards, made of silver. “Keep it safe!”
Engraved on the barrel of the key is the same phrase written in Dwarvish runes that are found on Thrór’s map: “Five Feet High The Door, And Three May Walk Abreast.” The key will be available in 2 different sizes, a 1 7/8″ Sterling Silver Necklace and a 2 7/8″ White Bronze Necklace or Key Chain. Note that this product is not yet available on their website. A limited inventory will be available at Comic-Con, with online sales to follow.
