hobbitdossmaugkingblrg2The last couple of days have presented us with several new collectibles from the amazing folks at Weta Workshop. The first new item is from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and is none other than the Dragon himself Smaug. This is the mini-version we saw at Comic-Con this past July. This fun sized Smaug which is still plenty big, considering that Smaug himself isn’t a tiny one, comes in with solid price tag of $125, which will be shipping between December-February. Anyone that orders Smaug – King Under The Mountain will have to put down a 20% NRD when they order.

In conjunction with the final of The Hobbit Trilogy fans can add a commemorative pin for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. This pin can be added to your collection for only $10.99 and is in-stock ready to ship. The final item comes from The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. If you’ve enjoyed collecting the pins from The Hobbit Trilogy now you can also do so for The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. This three piece set covers all three movies for $29.99 with this also being in-stock and ready to ship to your collections.

hobbitthroralrg2 With all the holiday craziness that comes as we hit the holiday season you may have missed a brand-new item from our friends at Weta Workshop that went up for order on Black Friday. King Thror was one of the show stealers from Comic-Con this past July and now fans can add this to their collections.

The King is on sale through tomorrow night for a $50 discount taking him to $299, which is a great price for such a beautiful piece. If you wait and order him after Sunday at midnight then he goes back to his normal retail price of $349, and no matter the price you pay he is an in-stock item so you should have a King ready to show off when you have family/friends over for the Christmas. hobbitdossmaugterriblealrg2Today is the day! As we promised you last week, the Smaug the Terrible statue by our friends at Weta Workshop has gone up for order. This was a show stealing piece last year at Comic-Con, and I know many fans including myself have been waiting to get a chance to order this piece. Smaug went up today at 11am PST with a special pre-order price of $699, which is good through January 25th of next year; after that date the price will go up to $749. Another note about the pre-order: when fans place their orders there will be a $100 NRD (Non-Refundable Deposit) at the time of order. Smaug has an edition size of 2000 pieces world-wide, and as per the sign at Comic-Con is due to ship in quarter one of next year. Do not hesitate to order this piece and add what will be a grail into your collection!

Smaug2One of the best items from Comic-Con 2014 is coming up for Pre-Order next week.

Smaug the Terrible was so impressive and one of the most detailed statues I’ve ever seen. There has been so much packed into this statue to help recreate the amazing work by Weta Digital in bringing one of Tolkien’s coolest characters to life.

I know for myself, it has been one of the amazing pieces I’ve been eagerly awaiting to become available for order so I could get ready to add it to my collection. So the time has finally come to mark our calendars for next Tuesday, November 11th at 1pm PST. That is when our friends at Weta Workshop will put this superb collectible up for order. Make sure you get your order in so you can be one of the lucky 2000 collectors who will have a chance to have this in your collections.

LOTRBalrog2

Today, one of the coolest items unveiled at Comic-con by our friends at Weta Workshop, The Balrog statue,  has finally been put up for order.

This mammoth statue, standing 20.5″ tall, 17.5″ wide, with a depth of 11.8″ has an edition size of 1500 pieces world wide. If you Pre-Order this guy right now you can save $50 off the retail price of $650 to get him for $599. He is set to ship during the fourth quarter of this year, which is not too far off for those of you who, like me, hate waiting. So get those orders in now to save some money and a place in line before he sells out!

The-Hobbit-The-Battle-Of-The-Five-ArmiesThere are just 3 months remaining until the final chapter of The Hobbit saga and the final bit of Middle-earth on film is released, and new images and story tidbits are going to start coming much quicker now. Earlier today we shared the new scrolling poster for this final chapter and now we have some analysis of what can be seen in it from our staff. Of all the new imagery available, there is still nothing of Dain and the wild War Boar he purportedly rides in on, but this scroll does have a few other new tidbits of info in it that are fun to speculate on.

But first, a little editorial note about these scrolls that most of you have probably already noticed, there is a LOT of photoshop involved in putting these together. They cobble together a vast array of characters and settings in order to tell a miniature 2D story with just a few images, and sometimes the photoshop works well, and sometimes not so much. When it does not work out so well, we’ve taken to calling it FrankenPhotoshop, which can be attributed to any image that makes you scratch your head and wonder ‘wait, who is that?’.

So read on to see the TORn staff reactions to the images selected to be in this Scroll, and then feel free to post your own thoughts below. Continue reading “TORn staff analyze the new scroll poster for The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies”
