Barliman's Chat This weekend, Hall of Fire continues on with the Return of the King, exploring the events of The Muster of Rohan.

‘Hail Lord of the Rohirrim, friend of Gondor!’ he said. ‘Hirgon I am, errand-rider of Denethor, who bring you this token of war. Gondor is in great need. Often the Rohirrim have aided us, but now the Lord Denethor asks for all your strength and all your speed; lest Gondor fall at last.’

We are just a week and a half from ‘Ringers take Disneyland’ and our Feast of Starlight celebration at the ‘One Dragon, One Party’ event at the Cat & Fiddle.

So, here are a few little updates for each event to help you better plan your weekend.

One Dragon, One Party

The Cat & Fiddle needs a fairly accurate head count for the party in order to schedule staff, so we will close Pre-registration for the ‘One Dragon, One Party’ event on Sunday, Feb. 23 at Midnight, PST.

This will allow them to properly staff for the party and have the food on hand. Don’t worry about this meaning last-minute people can’t attend, it just means we are changing this a bit. Continue reading “The Oscars are coming, One Weekend to rule them all”

IMG_7140 01Many fans will know this guy as ‘Skully the Orc’! Fans got their first look at Skully, (real name, apparently, ‘Guritz’), during The Return of the King back in December of 2003, and eleven years later we’re finally getting a chance to add a figure of this character to our collections. Skully joins a quickly growing list of characters from Asmus Toys in their expanding collection of characters from The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. As with the other figures in this line, he has 36 points of articulation, various fabrics making up the outfit, a spot-on likeness to the character, and a very cool Orc Flag. You can place your pre-orders for Skully right now from various online retailers, like our friends at Alter Ego Comics for only $137.99.

KiliAs you may recall, we teamed up with Gentle Giant to pick the next Dwarf who would get turned into a bust for their The Hobbit Trilogy line. The winner of the poll was one of the ‘Hot Dwarves’: Kili the Dwarf. Kili is the archer of the company, but this piece gives us him holding his Dwarven sword, which is a nice change for fans with more than one collectible of this character. Kili comes in with a price tag of $75 for non PGM members and only $67.50 for those of us who are PGM members. You can expect Kili to arrive into your collection around the fourth quarter of this year.

Continuing on from our post earlier today about the Home Video release of the Theatrical Edition of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, here’s some further information we’ve gathered about different versions which will be available around the world.

In the UK, where the release happens on April 7th (one day earlier than anywhere else!) it looks like there will be the same editions available as will be in the US – namely Blu-ray 3D combo pack (£18.00), Blu-ray combo pack (£16.50) and DVD (£14.50).  It seems likely there will also be a Collector’s Edition in the UK – most likely those same Noble Collection Dwarven bookends – but we don’t have exact details on that yet.
