As we reported earlier this week it appears that figures from The Bridge Direct for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey are starting to land in stores before their official October 1st release date. We showed you pictures of the Legolas and Tauriel figures which are part of wave 1. Today, rumors are starting to surface around the internet that Warner Bros. may be having these two figures pulled from this wave. Why? It would be a sign that these two characters will not be making an appearance in the first Hobbit film. If there’s any truth to the rumor, you may want to grab these two figures if you see them because their value on the secondary market could jump quiet high because they’ll be in the packaging for the first movie.

Following on from our ‘save the date’ a short while ago, here’s the info on TORn’s party in the Big Apple!  We’ll be gathering at The Speakeasy at 442 Amsterdam Avenue – same venue as last year – on Thursday 11th October, 8-11pm.  This venue is a fabulous private room, where we’ll have suitably Middle-earth themed entertainment.  Your ticket includes finger food, a drink of your choice and two entries into the raffle for the evening, where we’ll be giving away some fabulous prizes!  Price also includes, of course, the chance to mingle with fellow fans and to support TheOneRing.net!  So what are you waiting for?  Get over to this page and order your tickets!  $25 in advance, $30 on the door.  Hope to see you there!

Warner Brother Canada has announced a contest where a lucky Canadian can win two tickets to an advanced screening of “The Hobbit: an Unexpected Journey.” The contest started on September 21 and will run through 11:59 EST on October 7. The winner and one guest will attend an advanced screening prior to the December 14, 2012 release date (no exact date given yet), either in Vancouver or Toronto, whichever city is closest to where they live. All you have to do is fill out the online entry form and try to go about your daily tasks until October 7 with both fingers crossed! The contest is only open to legal residents of Canada. Good luck!

A new movie poster for “The Hobbit: an Unexpected Journey just debuted on the official Hobbit Movie Facebook page. The new poster is all about dwarves, dwarves and more dwarves. In fact, they managed to get all thirteen of them in the poster. All of them are very much in character which is that much more encouraging that Peter Jackson and crew will be able to pull of the challenging accomplishment of distinguishing thirteen major characters (and then some) and make them unique and memorable for the audience. What do you think the poster says about each of the dwarves’ personalities? Join us in our chatroom, on our facebook page or on our Hobbit Movie discussion board and let us know!

Greetings – Quickbeam here.

The new Hobbit trailer, judging by various responses from fans and non-fans alike, is a resplendent thing.  I remember the phrase “an embarrassment of riches” being applied to The Fellowship of the Ring in an early review back in 2001 – and certainly that phrase fits here. It’s only a trailer, but man, is it stuffed to the brim! There are even five alternate endings, each offering more laughs and delights.

This second big trailer release gives away SO MUCH of Peter Jackson’s sprawling adaptation, I’m left wondering why the Bag End kitchen sink wasn’t thrown in as well…

But actually there’s quite a bit missing.
