Reclaiming the Blade Trailer Boasts LOTR Alumni

Annette writes: The trailer for Reclaiming the Blade, Galatia Film’s documentary on swords and sword fighting is full of LOTR folks. It begins with comments by John Howe who is followed by Richard Taylor, Viggo Mortensen, John Rhys Davies (the film’s narrator), Karl Urban and, of course, swordmaster Bob Anderson. Acting award for Karl Urban

The man who brought us Eomer last night picked up a Best Supporting Actor award at New Zealand’s Qantas Film and Television Awards for his role as policeman Nick Harvey in the movie Out of the Blue:

The gripping re-telling of the 1990 Aramoana massacre, Out of the Blue, swept the movie section of the awards, picking up six awards including best picture.
Matthew Sutherland and Karl Urban picked up the awards for best actor and supporting actor for their roles in the popular movie.

Karl Urban Chimes in on ‘The Hobbit’

Urban up for Bones Role in Star Trek

Ataahua sends this along: Kiwi actor Karl Urban is reportedly in talks to play Dr Leonard ‘Bones’ McCoy in Lost creator JJ Abrams’ new Star Trek movie. Website The Trek Movie Report says that the Lord of the Rings star is in negotiations to play the starship Enterprise’s chief medical officer, a role which one of the film’s co-writers, Roberto Orci, has confirmed is a substantial part. But according to a source, Urban’s involvement with the film is not yet certain, due to a possible scheduleling conflict. LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – “Lord of the Rings” veteran Karl Urban has joined the cast of the CBS miniseries “Comanche Moon,” a prequel to novelist Larry McMurtry’s Western saga “Lonesome Dove.” Ryan Merriman (“Final Destination 3”), Elizabeth Banks (“Slither”), Graham Greene (“Transamerica”) and Wes Studi (“The New World”) have also been cast.
