So as we told you during the winter warm-up our friends at Weta Workshop updated us on the amazing looking Witch-king and Frodo piece we saw at Comic-Con during 2018. Now we get to start your week with even more good news regarding this piece. We now have a video update on the process this statue has gone through as Weta prepares to put it up for pre-order. Please enjoy part 1 and as soon as we have more information we will make sure to pass it on to you, so you have it to prepare for this pre-order.

As many of you know Comic-Con in San Diego was cancelled this year due to the Covid-19. So our friends at Weta Workshop have decided to take Comic-Con and do it virtually. They’re calling it Winter Warm Up, because it is winter in their part of the world. The first two days have brought us three new collectibles from Middle-earth. The first one is from The Lord of the Rings, and a piece we saw sculpted live, two years ago during San Diego Comic-Con. Sculptor Jane Wenley is bringing to life that iconic moment where we see The Witch-king stab Frodo on Weathertop. When this piece goes live we will bring your more information but for now we hope you enjoy this concept sketch.

The lonely shepherd

by David McGlinchey

I watch the sunrise.
I have watched it from the First Age.
And you, you were there at my side and would always sing at it’s rising.
But the days dawning is silent now.

You are gone.

I would wander out amongst the growing woods and trees.
Coaxing them,
Befriending them,
Teaching them to talk.

We were as one.

You, my love, would show them the beauty of the fruit and the flower.
Sharing your gift with your sisters in bringing colour and joy to this new world.
Bringing an order to the hills and vales.

Divided now by brown earth and stone.

Fimbrethil.
We were the guardians.
Charged with protecting the forests and trees.
Faithfully we have tended to their needs
Though none, there seemed, stood by us.
Driven away you were with the rising of the Darkness.

I am alone

Still.
Your name alone brings me comfort.
We are fated to meet ere the setting of the last sun.
I know this will be I will wait.
Until that day though.

I am alone.

Thanks to Ringer GJC15344 we have a look at what if Lego had gotten around to making a Minas Tirith set. Over a short period of time we got several very cool Middle-earth themed sets from Lego. Unfortunately we never got Minas Tirith. However, I know after seeing these maybe, just maybe, if we can get enough emails sent to them we could get this. This set looks like it would be incredible. I for sure would love to own it.

Each week when the auctions start they will run for 72 hours. Week one has come to a close but week two starts next Monday and will end on May 21st.

In support of their local community, Weta is going to donate 100% of the proceeds from one statue per week to the Neonatal Trust.
