After Warner Brothers finally released the Extended Edition of The
Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
on DVD and Blu-ray, several reviewers pointed out one unfortunate thing about the release. Although it was obvious that Warner Brothers made some effort as far as the packaging
of the Extended Edition was concerned, there was a total absence of a booklet of any kind. That was rather annoying, as the stylish booklets included with The Lord of the Rings Special Extended Editions were just the cherry on the top – not only did they feature some nice sketches by Alan Lee and John Howe, but also provided useful information: the chapter list (along with new/extended chapter markings), as well as a navigation path through the intricate bonus menu system. Don’t get too excited yet…but thanks to Ringer Nesse for pointing out that there is now an impressive splash page on featuring an ad for the upcoming Blu-Ray release of LOTR. Granted, it is just an ad, but it is something! [Check it out] [Discuss]

Ho Jai writes: I just wanted to share some information I have had today from -snip- who works for an advertising agency exclusively for Warner Bros in the UK. I tried to pump him for any information he may be able to obtain about the Trilogy release on Blu Ray. From their website, it appears Warner Bros in the US are releasing the Blu Ray Trilogy in November (this we already knew -Xo).

As far as UK release, Entertainment Film Distributors are still under contract to release New Line movies on home video until 2010, so Warner Bros won’t be involved in the UK release therefore no exact inside news. But I have been reliably informed that it will be a Q4 release around a similar time though.
