Lego has just debuted its third animated short for its Lord of the Rings game, this time with members of the Fellowship repelling the Uruk-hai hordes of Saruman at Helm’s Deep.

After receiving multiple requests, we are finally making our Comic-Con 2012 ‘OBEY’ shirts available for online purchase. The popularity of this shirt was a surprise to us all! After selling out last Thursday, we begged our shirt producer to rush another 100+ shirts to arrive at Comic-Con by Saturday afternoon. Those sold out just as quickly by Sunday and ultimately left a lot of con-goers empty-handed. So we are happy to offer them to our entire online audience for a limited time. TORn forum member DarkJackal (who gets full credit for this article) made a fascinating find about the 1:6 scale Thorin Oakenshield miniature being made by WETA and currently on exhibition at Comic-Con.
Seemingly, the statue comes with a backgrounder on the packaging. It reads:
A proud and noble Dwarf of resolute character and stern bearing, Thorin was the grandson of Thror of the line of Durin and heir to the lost throne of Erebor. Alongside Moria, Erebor stood as the greatest of the realms of the Dwarves, a vast kingdom carved from the living rock of The Lonely Mountain, bustling with trade and bursting with wealth.
Down upon Erebor the great dragon Smaug had fallen and the city and its people were engulfed by the inferno of his coming. Thorin and his kin were fortunate to escape with their lives, though they left everything else behind. As we reported earlier, today is The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit day at Comic-Con 2012 (aka #HobbitCon) and LEGO® was kind enough to send us this exclusive image of a brand new ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey‘ Playset! The set is called ‘An Unexpected Gathering’ and features Bag End with six mini-figures. As you can see in the image above, we have Bofur holding an axe, Bombur with a sausage and knife, Dwalin wielding a really large weapon and knife, Balin with chalice, Gandalf the Grey with walking staff, and Bilbo Baggins. As you can see the set is highly detailed with greenery, vegetables and much more. From the looks of the image we’ll have a nice inside component to play with as well. From all accounts, Hobbitcon has started with a massive bang. In particular, images we’ve seen of the WETA booth over in San Diego are just amazing.
Carven statues of dwarves, massive, replica props in stunning detail, eight-foot-tall trolls, life-size lego renditions of Bilbo Baggins and Gandalf the Wizard plus 3D posters of the main cast — and that’s just the tip of the iceberg!
TORn’s booths are proving really popular with fans, too. If you’re going, and have been thinking of grabbing a t-shirt of a badge, let me just say that you better act fast — they are going like hot-cakes!
