Author Doug Adams, who famously documented the story of the Lord of the Rings soundtracks in The Music of the Lord of the Rings Films has been conducting an Ask Me Anything over on his blog.

Comic-Con 2013 brought us a look at the amazing mini-environments that capture various Hobbit Holes in the Shire. This beautiful collectible captures some of the unique looks and personalities you will find as you roam around the shire. This Hobbit Hole comes in at $40 and will be shipping from New Zealand in early October.
Iconic Rotorua visitor attraction, Te Puia, features in the latest Tourism New Zealand 100% Middle-earth, 100% Pure New Zealand campaign, with new 60 and 90 second commercials that include Te Puia’s geothermal, Māori culture and cuisine highlights.
The campaign’s new 60 second advertisement is set to run in cinemas, print, online and outdoor advertising across Tourism New Zealand’s key target markets. The campaign commenced last week in Germany. The campaign is designed to align with the release of the second instalment of the Hobbit movie trilogy, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, which will open worldwide at the beginning of December. Buoyed by their educational experience from the day before, Cryptozoic and TheOneRing.net’s Road to Dragon Con fellowship set out in high spirits. Before hitting the road proper, they stopped at a treasure trove entitled Toys R Us to seek out jointed, miniature busts of their favorite heroes and villains, not to mention replicas of legendary weapons.
On the way out of the trading metropolis of Denver they picked up a new member, Katalena! A master of masks and trickery, makeup and mirrors. She joined them to be a player in the masquerade that is Dragon Con.
The flat, empty, fly-ridden plains of Kansas opened up like a hungry maw before them, they had no choice but to enter and cross. All across the never-ending plains they shared stories with their companions watching via crystal slab, and chatted awhile with Cliff the Unmoving, The Adamant Wizard.
Finally the weary band made their way in the outskirts of Kansas City, where after multiple tries they found an inn to rest their weary heads.
What is next in store for the Fellowship of the Dragon? Moridan himself can’t tell you that secret.

Two of Peter Jackson’s companies will be among the honorees at the International 3D & Advanced Imaging Society’s 5th annual 3D Technology Awards. The awards will be presented Sept. 18 during a ceremony at Paramount Studios.
The Society’s Lumiere statuettes for technology will be awarded to Weta Digital for the visual effects pipeline it created for Avatar; and to Park Road Post for the 3D high frame rate pipeline it developed for The Hobbit.
Related, a Lumiere will also be awarded to manufacturer SGO for its Mistika postproduction system, which was a key tool used at Park Road Post for its 3D high frame rate pipeline.
