Editor Note: Our latest staff review comes from staffer and second half of the Happy Hobbit team, Fili. The Happy Hobbits were TheOneRing.net official representatives at the ‘black’ carpet premiere of ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’ this past Monday in Hollywood, CA. (You can see the unedited video coverage in our uStream archive)
As a word of warning, Fili’s review is filled with SPOILERS from the very beginning. If you are avoiding spoilers of any type, please know — you have been warned!
Warner Bros. has just updated their YouTube channel with two new TV Spots, which feature all-new footage (including our first look at a certain Orc), and showcase the critical acclaim the film has been getting over the past couple of days.
A word of warning — we’re now getting to the point where the TV spots will be showing off more and more of the film’s incredible visuals and characters. So if you feel like you’ve seen too much already, consider this your SPOILER warning.
While watching the live stream of the Berlin premiere, which is still running right now at Berlin Premiere Live Stream Luke Evans confirmed that he played Bard’s own ancestor, Girion of Dale. He only had to spend one day in costume, but as you can see from this image, that costume was very elaborate and heavy, similar to what the dwarves had to wear all the time. Luke said he was glad he only had to put on this heavy costume just the one day, but really loved playing his ancestor to bring that history to life.
One of the most beautiful pieces at Comic-Con 2013 came to us from our friends at Weta Workshop. This statue is a real eye catcher with a great likeness, amazing detail, and a fantastic mix of grace/power. The character that Weta created that mixes all of these together is the King of the Mirkwood Elves Thranduil. This was also a special release granted by Warner Brothers so fans could see the character and start getting pumped for the awesomeness that is to come in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
