Elijah Wood At the Sundance Film Festival because of his role in the film Celeste and Jess Forever, Elijah Wood spoke briefly about his participation in The Hobbit.

“Did my part already…” Wood said. “I was there for a month. It didn’t actually take that much time for the work. It was sort of half vacation and catching up with old friends and half work.”

“It had been 11 years since I’d been to Hobbiton,” Wood said. “I turned 19 in Hobbiton. That’s [expletive] crazy. I stood on the hill looking at the hobbit holes and I was, like, ‘I turned 19 here and I’m 30 now.’ It was such a weird thing. And a lot of the same crew were there. That was the most bizarre. It felt like taking a step back in time almost. It was extraordinary.”

Elijah WoodSteve Rose from guardian.co.uk writes: Since Lord of the Rings, the actor has avoided big-budget epics. But now he’s reprising his hobbit role and starring in a lavish Treasure Island adaptation. Is that the Ring? Around the ring finger of Elijah Wood’s right hand is a band of silver with strange lettering on it – probably Elvish. As a reward for his lead hobbiting services in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, director Peter Jackson reportedly gave Wood the original Ring. And he still wears it. Doesn’t he?

“No. This is Hebrew, ” he says, twirling the ring around his finger. “I know, it has a kind of a similar look to it.”

Oh.

“I do have the Ring, but it’s not inscribed, and it’s gold. But I don’t think it’s real gold – gold-plated. But, no, I don’t wear it. I keep it in a little box.” Not on a chain around his neck? “I carried it for a long time,” he says with mock solemnity. More..

“I have not seen it. I have spoken to people about the trailer, I have a sense of what’s going to be in it, he told Digital Spy. “I think it’s going to be in front of Tintin when it’s released in the States.” The Adventures of Tintin, which is produced by The Hobbit’s Peter Jackson, will open in US cinemas on December 21. Elijah Wood has good reason to praise 3D, seeing as his old pal Peter Jackson has taken the stereoscopic route in his The Hobbit films. On the publicity circuit for Happy Feet Two, we asked Wood what he’d make of the mooted 3D conversion for the Lord Of The Rings trilogy.

“I think it would be cool to see. There’s talk of releasing a dimensionalised trilogy eventually. I’m okay with doing post-process 3D, as long as someone takes the time.

He also had this to say about the oft-mentioned future release of the LOTR films to home audiences:

I think there will be a DVD edition in which there are deleted scenes. There are deleted scenes, I don’t know how many there are, it’s been a long time. A lot made it back into the cuts for those extended versions, but there are some scenes that never made it. There are also hours… there has to be at least a couple of hours of blooper reel stuff, because we were having a blast.
