Earlier this week, Entertainment Weekly posted 10 new images from The Hobbit just in time for Comic-con — featuring Thorin, Gandalf, Mirkwood, Gollum and much more. We were pretty sure the gallery would reveal some nifty new details of what we can expect from the movie.

Then they dropped a couple more with their magazine — a cool image of Balin and Dwalin, and a close-up of Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield.

So TORn’s staffers have put their heads together to analyse the images. Read on to see what we found, and what we think! Of course, this post carries a SPOILER warning. Continue reading “TORn staff analyse all 12 Entertainment Weekly photos!”

Thanks to Ali, over at RichardArmitageNet.com for sharing some new images in the lively discussion happening on our Hobbit discussion board regarding the recent Entertainment Weekly article on The Hobbit.  Two additional pictures are apparently available on the tablet version of the article that celebrates The Hobbit and Comic-Con. In one of the new images, we see a ‘kinder, gentler’ version of Thorin (right), as well as Dwalin and Balin putting their heads together to discuss something in Bag End while Bilbo stands behind them overhearing their conversation  (looking a bit worried). They also have scans of the article for those who haven’t run out and purchased the real thing yet.

Be sure to stay tuned for massive coverage of Comic-Con, happening in San Diego July 12-15, by our many talented TORn staffers who will be your eyes and ears on everything Hobbity (including the much-anticipated TORn Comic-Con Hobbit panel (Thursday, July 12, from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m., in room 6DE – read the full article about it here)

Message board member Carne recently did some brilliant research on the stunt performers who will be filling in for some of the actors playing the dwarves in “The Hobbit.” Per Carne: “These people are too often overlooked, so I thought: “Why not?” I also thought it might be fun to see which stunt performers most physically resemble the actors they’ll be filling in for.” Right you are, Carne! Take a look at these pictures Carne put together and let us know your thoughts on our Hobbit forum or Barliman’s Chat! Also, please let us know if you know of (or personally are) a stunt double so we can add to the list! …More
