Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson’s new movie The Lovely Bones has been chosen for this year’s Royal Film Performance. Jackson said he is “honoured” it has been selected, adding its making has been “an extraordinary journey”. The world charity gala is due to take place in late November in London’s Leicester Square. The movie, based on Alice Sebold’s best-selling book, stars Susan Sarandon and Rachel Weisz. More..

GRAND RAPIDS SYMPHONY OPENS OCTOBER 15 LORD OF THE RINGS REHEARSAL TO PUBLIC
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. Oct. 8, 2009 The Grand Rapids Symphony has opened for sale to the public the final rehearsal of Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring. The final rehearsal will take place Thursday, October 15, 7 pm in DeVos Performance Hall.

Over the weekend CBS spent some time with Howard Shore and the Brooklyn Youth Chorus practicing their Elvish for this weekend’s FOTR event at Radio City Music Hall. You can read the story here or watch the same story on video here. Both are excellent but it is a little bit better to hear the practice and Elvish!
Lasse sends along a translation of a Danish interview from ‘Troldspejlet’, a Danish TV show: Lee talks LOTR – for instance some of the scenes that were shot but never made it to the screen – and a little of his love of fantasy in general. The interviewer also tries to get him to talk of his roles as count Dracula and other classic horror characters some 50+ years ago – this seems to annoy him a bit, as he was never payed much for acting in these films, which on the other hand earned quite a sum for the film companies!
The show that ran the interview is called “Troldspejlet” which translates into something like “The Magic Mirror” and is a much loved weekly show that has existed since 1989 telling news of books/films of fantasy and sci-fi as well as computer games.
