Howard Shore’s classic score for The Lord Of The Rings film trilogy is being released on September 13th on Howe Records. Titled The Lord Of The Rings Symphony: Six Movements for Orchestra & Chorus, the double-album is a live recording of a concert in Lucerne Switzerland in February of this year. Author George R. R. Martin has urged fans to look out for two scripts from hit 
TV show Game Of Thrones which were stolen before a planned charity auction.
The writer, who penned the fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire, which the hit HBO series is based on, planned to put scripts from two episodes of the show under the hammer at the sci-fi WorldCon event later this week.
But after he had the screenplays sent over for him to sign, he discovered both manuscripts had been stolen. [3 News] [Time]

Southern California Tolkien fans are invited to join in the merriment of TORN’s Annual Baggins Birhday Bash, which will take place on Saturday, Sept 24 starting at noon in Griffith Park one road past the Merry-Go-Round turnoff. Costumes are encouraged, and prizes will be bestowed upon the most beautifully or most creatively attired lads and ladies. There will also be fun and games, as usual, …and …maybe even the traditional impersonation contest (I would like to encourage attendees to learn some Hobbit Quotes). Oh, and you can expect a full Golfimbul match, for those who wish to swing a bat at the Goblin King’s head. There will be some wonderful prizes to be won.
