One night only! The Two Towers Extended Edition is in theaters tonight and, in this reporter’s opinion, it features the best opening sequence in the history of film. If you have not seen it on the big screen, you simply cannot miss it! For those of you attending a screening, don’t forget to email us when you get home. We would love to know about your experience and feel free to send us some photos. You can email them to spymaster@theonering.net . We’ll try our best to post as much as we can. Or, if you are on Facebook, share your photos and stories on our wall.
Enjoy the show and don’t forget that trivia and other fun stuff start around 6:30pm. And for those of us who are not near a theater showing the Extended edition, plop in the DVD at home tonight and follow right along! [TORn on Facebook] [Buy Tickets] [WBshop.com]

One of the best things about running a website like TheOneRing.net is to see how fans express their fandom for the words and works of J.R.R. Tolkien. In the following video, Ringer Rosemary and a few friends combine their fandom with creativity to make a ‘Lord of the Rings’ Rap. Way to go Rosemary!

A celebration of all things JRR Tolkien will be held at Penkridge library to highlight Staffordshire’s local link with one of the world’s favourite authors.
Literary lovers can take part in a guided walk from Penkridge Library across the Teddesley Estate, passing through Gipsy Green where Tolkien’s cottage of 1918 still stands.
Free copies of the book ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ will be given away to participants as part of the celebrations for World Book Night.
Staffordshire County Councillor for Pat Corfield, Cabinet Member for Culture, Communities and Customers, said: “This is a lovely way to spend a Spring day, exploring the area that helped to inspire JRR Tolkien. This is a wonderful and innovative idea from our library staff in Penkridge.”

Please join us today in sending love and support to the folks in Christchurch, New Zealand. Only 4 months ago, the same area was rocked by a 6.3 magnitude quake that killed 180 people. While these two quakes were smaller, they have still caused some significant problems. Follow the links for various articles about the latest quakes.
