Hot off the heels of the exciting festivities in Wellington, we are happy to open the official party subsite for ‘The One Expected Party!’ This site will be your one stop location for all of the fine details about this black-tie gala hosted by TheOneRing.net on Oscar Night 2013. To say the night will be special for every Tolkien fan is a bit of an understatement. Our planning team are working overtime to make this the most memorable event TheOneRing.net has ever hosted! Entertainment for the night includes Billy Boyd’s band Beecake, Emerald Rose and Charles Ross of ‘The One Man Lord of the Rings!’ To coincide with the launch of the subsite, we are excited to announce that invitations to the party are now being sent to email inboxes around the world. The first invitations are being sent to those fans who filled our our Oscar Party survey last year. So if you gave us your feedback, look for an email today! Could TheOneRing.net’s party in Los Angeles next February GET any more exciting?? First Billy Boyd and Beecake confirmed, then Emerald Rose, and now we are thrilled to announce that actor Charlie Ross – whose ‘One Man Lord of the Rings’ has been such a huge hit – will join us in Hollywood and, in a special performance, will give us a taste of just what makes his show so popular!
This is the kind of line up that Middle-earth fans dream of – and we’ll be adding more acts too, so look out for further announcements! It will indeed be a night to remember! February 24th 2013 is the date – tickets on sale very soon, so get ready to buy quickly before they sell out!
Warner Brothers has kicked off their Awards Season website for many of their films, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey among them. The page links to the Official Website and trailer, gives a brief synopsis of the story, and then lists all the names of the people who worked in eligible categories, from the Writers to the Sound Effects people, and a few of the actors. And just as a tease, there is a list of screenings, but those screenings are for Academy voters and members of the various Guilds (Screen Actors, Writers, Directors, etc) only. On Monday we shared with you the very exciting news that Billy Boyd and Beecake will be our headliners for our live show at The One Expected Party in Hollywood next February. Now we are thrilled to let you know that our favourite Celtic rock band will be back to open the show for us! Four piece band Emerald Rose have been great friends of TheOneRing.net since we met at DragonCon more than ten years ago, and fans danced the night away to their music at our Oscar parties for The Two Towers and The Return of the King. Their music ranges from traditional jigs and reels to original folk rock and pop numbers; we’re pretty sure Bilbo would have hired them for his birthday party if he could have! We are thrilled and honoured to announce that Billy Boyd and Beecake will be joining us as headliners for The One Expected Party! Boyd, Rick Martin and Billy Johnston – the trio who make up the Scottish rock band – have agreed to fly over from Glasgow to join us in Hollywood for a night of revelry. We are delighted that they are able to take time out of their busy schedules to party with us! The band may have a couple of other gigs on the West Coast whilst they are over; we’ll be sure to keep you informed of any further dates they play.
