Comic-ConAfter many years, TheOneRing.net is returning to Comic-Con! This year we are honored to be presenting a panel of ‘The Hobbit’ films:

Friday, July 25th 10:00-11:00 TheOneRing.net: The Hobbit— Middle Earth returns with the announcement that The Hobbit will be developed into a feature film directed by Guillermo del Toro and produced by Peter Jackson. The world’s largest Tolkien community, TheOneRing.net, takes you behind the scenes of the latest news, announcements, and rumors pertaining to the production of the new film. Chris Pirrotta (TheOneRing.net), Larry Curtis (TheOneRing.net), Cliff Broadway (TheOneRing.net), Kristin Thompson (The Frodo Franchise), and possible special guests present this early look at making The Hobbit happen! Room 32AB

We hope you can join us for our first panel in over 5 years! [Comic-Con]

Our own Jincey sends this along: This is a heads up on MerpCon IV, coming up on July 25th-27th in Spokane, Washington. This year’s special guest speaker is John D. Rateliff, author of “The History of the Hobbit”. Better yet, he’s even offered to GM a table as well! FYI, the (basic) RSVP form for MerpCon IV is up and running here. There is limited seating available, so please register early to be certain you get a spot. This year’s theme is based around Dwarves. See the promo here for more details. [MerpCon IV]

Comic-Con If you have not purchased your tickets for Comic-Con 2008 (July 23-27 2008, San Diego CA), you may want to get a move on! While the four day passes are sold out, they have just started selling single day tickets and they are moving quickly (especially the Saturday Tickets!) Tolkien fans who attend this year will have more than a few panels and places to visit during the event. We may be slightly biased, but we suggest making sure you get to Comic-Con on Friday morning – more about that later! For now, make sure you secure your tickets! [Comic-Con 2008]

The list of reasons to attend this year’s Comic-Con just keeps growing. Message board members deej and MrCere point out that both Ralph Bakshi and John Howe have recently been added to the Comic-Con 2008 Special Guest List. The 39th annual Comic-Con will be held July 24-27 at the San Diego Convention Center. It sold out last year, so be sure to get your membership soon if you plan to be there in July! Doug Adams likes his life, he says so on his professional and personal blog and its obvious when you speak to him. Chances are if you appreciate the “Lord of the Rings” films’ soundtracks, you would like his life too. He will soon be the published author – instead of the hard working unpublished author he has been for several years – of the landmark “The Music of the Lord of the Rings Films,” which is an in-depth study of the Howard Shore magnum opus that accompanies Peter Jackson’s film trilogy.
