A cute little article about some of the people on the Red Carpet tour. You’ll see their faces and costumes on just about every pic of the party, the red carpet and general fan madness in Wellington. I’d like to give a big shout-out to all the people who have visited NZ for the premiere due to TORN and Red Carpet (amounts to the same thing, with most Red Carpet clients discovering the tours through TORN. Their costumes and enthusiasm added hugely to the atmosphere of the Premiere week in Wellington.Posted in Fans, Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, New Zealand, Premieres, The Hobbit, TheOneRing.net Community, Tours, Wellington

Missed this one: TVNZ did the weather in Elvish yesterday. Short version: New Zealand will have good weather for travellers through summer.Posted in Uncategorized
Somehow in the days before The Hobbit, Radio New Zealand got Peter Jackson to sit down with them for a 22-minute interview on Morning Report. I think this is one of the most interesting, relaxed, open interviews with PJ that I’ve heard in years, so big ups to interviewer Jane Patterson for it. In Imagining Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit, guest writer Eric M. Van draws together the threads of known facts, and add a dash of logic to speculate on how Peter Jackson and his crew may have imagined their version of JRR Tolkien’s The Hobbit.
This second part of the series examines the unique adaptation challenges for Jackson and his fellow screenwriters that come from a sequel that’s a prequel — and whether they’ve had a six-movie Ultimate Edition in mind from the very start. WELLINGTON — Our story so far: On behalf of TheOneRing.net, I was invited by Warner Bros., supported by the good folks in Peter Jackson’s camp, to come to Wellington and relate the experience of the World Premiere of The Hobbit to fans worldwide. This is a personal thrill for me but I feel also the responsibility to convey as much of the experience as possible to TORn readers and everybody who cannot come. It is 5 a.m. in Wellington on HOBBIT: An Unexpected Journey premiere day. (More photos after the red carpet so we don’t bog down the site.) Here’s a great interview with our own Erica Challis, a.k.a. Tehanu. One of the founders of TORn, Erica was on hand at the premier party sponsored jointly by Red Carpet Tours and TheOneRing.net. The interview hits at the heart of what makes all Tolkien fans love The Hobbit. Well done, Erica!

A sneak preview from The Hobbit that aired on the SyFy channel during the Thanksgiving holiday in the U.S. is now available online. The 41 second clip shows a nice interchange between Gandalf and Bilbo as they explore the treasures found in the cave of the three trolls and Bilbo gets a very nice and valuable gift indeed!Posted in Events, Hobbit Movie, Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman, Television, The Hobbit
